managed to watch and listen to that vid for the first 5 minutes, anyone making nets his way please tell what happens when you finish the net before putting the draw cord through if you suspend it from

I don't like to shape all the way out to the middle so I have plenty of bagging without having loads of meshes near the rings where they serve no purpose.   10 12 14 16 18 18 18 18 18 18 18 18 18 1

basically I increase every other row so Im not adding to a half mesh its always a full mesh that I increase on and at each end to balance it out, just how I was shown many years back Y.I.S Leeview

Loads of good advice on here, 1 more question what's the best none slip knot for attaching twine to a purse net ring cheers SJ

A carrick knot (Spelling)

It will twist like a rope on itself guaranteed. and the cause? loading the needle from a vertical spool it comes off twisted and stays twisted when you knit with it. Answer load your needle with the spool horizontal with a bar or twine going through the centre of the spool, does nt matter wether the twine comes from above or below the spool it wont twist

Sound noorseman only thing is i run out of twine before completing the net so have to try get it to run out before i go to the next row how can this be avoided? Cheers

count the number of times the twine goes round the needle when loading, if your short then count the number your short then you can load the needle with the correct amount of twine for a full net

I use the same needles and the pattern I use for my purse nets if I put 232 turns on the needle I have about 3 inches of twine left when the net is finished and the rings braided on. Same when I am knitting a long net. I am knitting a double strander at the moment out of 20/6 spun poly I put 352 turns on the needle and it gives me exactly 4 yards of net to the mesh. Different twines have different thickness so you have to adjust for each new twine. If I fill a needle I usually go by 2.6 meshes average per turn then work from there to refine. Too much on the needle just load less on the next needle, too little, load more.
