delswal 3,819
What sort of mileage do the engines achieve before they give up ? i bought one three years ago on a 53 plate , changed the oil twice a year without fail ,now has 121k on the clock, never had any serious problems with it, engine is sound. Its easy for people to knock them if they came across a bad one , same with any vehicle to be fair. But to be honest i would have another navara if this one is anything to go by.

air gun ant 1,666
I admit mine was better when I put general grabbers on it but still, not the best. Before I changed tyres it used to look at wet grass and start sliding!
jamesS410 106
What sort of mileage do the engines achieve before they give up ? I know of at least three people who have had pistons/con rods take a short cut out of the engine with navaras and I know when I was looking for a new truck if you search for navaras on flea bay there is a hell of a market for recon engines for them. Let's just say it convinced me to buy a rodeo instead!

belucky 744
the fault on the engine is that the bolts/studs that hold the big ends onto the conrods were to small a diameter, thus through time usually 60/70 thousand they begin to stretch thus knocking the big ends out , I drive the early navara 2.5td d22 2001 it has a much stronger motor, mine is now over 170,000 ,if anyones after a navara theres an outfit near to me buys them in with f,,,,d engines ,rebuilds them and modifys the problem and gives you a 2year warrenty on the bottom end ,and hes quite handy price wise, I can pm his number if any ones interested ,Newcastle area
