Tiny 7 1,694
I suppose they have there place. I used one for a season never seen no real benefits always thought gentle trot on a bike if bringing back from injury ect. Or I can trot 3 af a time on a bike or more so the lazy way iam getting trotting by the car... So for me I never got on with um. But you only have to look across the world different breeds used on mills/running machines to see to some they are a very much important part of fitness tool to some of the best conditioner people alround dogs 1 Quote Link to post
paulf 820
I think if you look at them as an extra way of helping you get the dog in the condition you require and don't look at them as the be all and end all then they have there uses imo. not that I have much experience of them so I could be wrong . Tiny 7 1,694
No your right there paulf. They anit a replacement for excrise they are used as another/conjuction with as well as top diet. The most people iv spoke to regarding them, used more for fine tuning and injured dogs start back slowly.......... 1 Quote Link to post
slip lead 862
Cheers lads just seen a couple lately quite cheap and thought they might be good for summer time exercise in a controlled climate. .. Quote Link to post
Bootsha 1,306
i have a lure machine up my shed, i have owned it for 15 years plus, i loan it to a few local dog shows when they ask for the dog racing, otherwise it sits on the shelf from year to tear. I have never run my dogs on it........................ not that i dissaprove or anything like that, but i totally agree with some of the other comments, behind a bike or mooching etc, will build a dogs stamina and overall fitness up far more gradually.then a few rabbitts etc to get catching fit for the season... but thats just my opinion for what its worth. the big chief 3,099
i use one as all ready stated they are no way a replacement for training i use mine as a part of training mine still get road work free runing and long walks as well as the tread mill its good for when the weather is bad to keep on top of there fitness and good when ya dog has an injury its recovered from and you build the dog back up 2 Quote Link to post
