Daz87 76
Hi Guys, I recently purchased a second hand HW97k .22, got it for a reasonable price so was pretty happy at the time. I bought it from a fella in London who didnt seem to know much about air rifles. Space was limited and I only got to test it in his garden over a distance of about 10 yards & it seemed accurate enough. A few days later I decided to zero it at 30 yards and soon discovered that its firing well under power, just to give you some idea of how low it is.... When firing at a paper target that's being held in a pellet catcher, the pellet actually fails to pass all the way through and could be removed from the card in perfect condition. To say I was dissapointed would be an under statement, I've definitely learnt my lesson when it comes to buying second hand guns and next time I'll be sure to check it more thoroughly. Anyway, I'm stuck with the thing now... externally its in mint condition, its just the spring inside that's letting me down. I want to turn this negative situation into a positive, so my plan now is to get this baby back to its former glory and treat it to a v-mach kit. Hopefully that will sort it out and get it firing better than ever. I really cant wait to get this gun working again as It looks great and I know it will be a pleasure to shoot once it's all sorted. As i've said before, I'm not one for tinkering with the internals and would lack the confidence to even try. Is there any one on here who would be happy to fit it for me and I'd willingly pay for your time? Thanks Daryl Quote Link to post

barrywhite 282
If the gun is still very new and unused looking I would guess you have one of three problems ...1..the gun may have been shot with a lot of oil in the gun DIESELING may have destroyed the main piston seal ...2 the MAIN SPRING my have snapped ..3 .. the breach seal may have a problem . 3..and 2 are easy to fix ..1 is a little bit more of a problem ..there may be a different problem these would be my first choices . Hi Barrywhite, thanks for that info, definitely some good suggestions there. I'm ordering the V-mach kit next week and just hope that will resolve the problem, keep your fingers crossed for me!
