As yet I don't use a filter. But, I'm going to get an amber filter for two particular candidates. I tried red, to me I lost too much light and every damn thing was red (lol, obviously).

Used to use a red and amber filter, red lost to much light and amber was better, but it was always a hassle to carry them around and fit them when needed. Now I use an inline dimmer switch from Deben, seems to have the same effect as filters, just reduce the light a little on a shy fox, seems to become not so shy!!!

The dimmer is a good thing, works just like if you were to lower the light infront of the fox. Often found that dimming it a bit and he'll pop his head up or look at you again where as if you'd the full beam on he'd not be interested, makes them feel safer I reckon.

I use a red filter on my Lazerlite and an amber filter on my Lightforce. I would say the amber filter is the best . Never use white light as dont like the world to know what were doing. I have heard that some guys have good results with a green filter but never tried it myself.

Tried the red but lost too much light for my liking.......... so now i don't use any and still getting them, if lamp shy i give a quick flash, then if he runs give a squeel, and hope he stops, 95% success this way so far.
