Went up Skiddaw for my father's 60th but when we reached the top the weather had closed in and we couldn't see anything. On top of that the weather wrecked the camera and at one point my father said "We'd better head back of somebody could die!" Told him to man up and then had to hold the girlfriend between us so she didn't blow away :D :D :D Anyway, as you can see Skiddaw from my parent's back garden I went up the next summer and we waited for a nice day and then pegged it to get up there before the weather caught us out again. This time we made it to the top on a clear day and we went up the Wainwright route Mushroom. No fannying about on this one.

The view across to Derwent:

Top pictures. So much nicer when the suns out.

When i did that route, it hammered it down. I went into Dubs bothy for some snap. There were already some other guys in there eating and having a hot drink. All i'd got to drink was water. I was fu*king freezing and pi*s wet through. I vowed that day to always carry a stove so I could mash a hot drink.

That top pic is the little girl's route up Scafell   :tongue2: :tongue2:

I was taking my 63yr old father up and the big fat hairy collie has no back hips so we didn't do well. It was a shit walk as it was so busy but I will never forget my dad's bonding moment with the fat collie. He hates dogs so I got three of 'em :D :D He loves the fat one now though due to an episode on the way up to the roof of England.

do you like that footpath?? good isnt it? i had to carry the scaffholding and block and tackle up their to re build the mini digger we had air lifted up in 3 diffrent bits then re build it up their ....to make that path

ahh happy days

........Haven't got an Effing clue ?? Maybe Bowfell.

were was the bottom one taken? it looks a bit like yewbarrow taken from gosforth grag end of the bowl? i do get all moist about wasdale like.... did you pass the memorial to willie porter huntsman of the e&E and stop to give it a read? its placed on the spot he fell on salvers meet, its only about 70m from the road

and at netherwasdale just on the road side too their is a head stone to commemorate the last meet of the cumberland beagles with a past huntsman

by wasdale lake he stood and fell

away away

at salver meet he loved so well

away my lads away

his hounds were up in middle fell when willie left the road and fell

by the wattery bogs we heard him yell

away my lads away
