Zero

Hi all. Just a thought on zero and using a spring rifle. Do you stand, no rest, prone, sit with back against something support from leading leg etc? I've got my 98 bang on from standing over the top of the car with a shooting bag and support from my hand and I figure most field shots are taken like this, but do others find zero from another position just as accurate in the field?

I always hunt and shoot from a low, prone position so, that's my zeroing position. For .22 and .177 rifles, I zero at 25 metres which is just under 30 yards. This has proved incredibly effective with HW77 .22 which hits hard and accurately with a little holdover to ranges well beyond this figure. Even from standing and kneeling shots. It's great to know you have a superb spring rifle that gels bang-on with you, come whatever hunting situation arising.

I shoot from what ever position is best at the time to take the shot so it varies every time the only thing that needs to stay the same eye relief and your cheek position as long as they're the same each time it's fine. If your changing the position of your head in the stock each time you zero will seem like it's all over the place when infact it's due to your eye looking through the scope at a different angle.

For hunting with a springer I normally Zero my airgun kneeling as that is the position that I normally shoot a springer from, if using my AA400 I Zero prone off a bipod

Zero in what ever position you normally hunt in, prone being the most stable or kneeling. Would never do standing as it's not stable enough.

 

25yds .22 30-35yds in 177 zero.

 

Chair gun very useful for helping with ranges
