Water Feature Fish Pond ??? Questions/advice

The old boy next door to me has to big raised ponds that he has built like a stone wall effect around them ... They look real nice and rustic but are pretty modern in how they work .......

No chance you could get a pic chief is there ?........... quite like the sound of them.

I will go around there tomorrow and take a few pics .......

oh yeah no fooking tin bath for you :D had mine in the 25 year i know what you mean about looking old mine was looking tired so sooner than a big rebuild filled it in not really missed it but theres something about water in the garden sat out yesterday and watched the birds on the bird bath the mrs said remember the black bird used to have a bath in the pond and the way the sparrows used to land on the lilly pads to get a drink well that was it water feature you know what its like when you get a bee in your bonnet

our pond  

Thinking of a nice half barrell type water feature, flowering mini lilly would be a bonus, got some barrells in the barn aswell.   Got a pond, but can only see a bit of it from the house.  

Not any more they don't lol stigs got it on a trailer lol

We got a fake stream that the water comes down from filter and back into pond, amazing the birds that come for baths and a drink

You will get the fish bug mate.

I had it few years ago when was living in my own house.

Decided to get fish pond ripped my garden to f**k lmao.

Dug 10x8 x6deep in garden.

Blocked and concreted it bought filters.

Then moved before I filled the f****r up lol.

Im on the verge of doing a pond in our garden,im not digging out im going to build it up with sleepers it cost the earth to get rid of waste now.

kilgraney are near me had there sleepers and telegraph poles for raised beds :thumbs:

There's a cattle trough in Dorset in a hedge with weed and sticklebacks in it,don't know who put them in there,but was there when I was a school kid,and was still there when I checked in late 2010.

Fish have been known to have get to remote places like that as fish eggs on wading birds feet,,,like ducks more hens ect

nope small tin baths the nearest i`ve got -----things i`ve had in the past and sold that would of done the job aswell-----you watch i`ll do it then come across something suitable for free :D:D

Get your spade out and get digging stig lol, a nice koi pond should do the trick.

 

Had a 12 ft x 8 ft, 7 ft deep (with about 2 ft raised), years ago, all sorts of expensive koi, ghost koi, orfe, sturgeon, goldfish etc, massively expensive filtration system the £ that my dad put into that was serious :icon_eek:

Obviously coins though
