Ross73 6
Hi what's the best scope for my. 22. It's mostly for knocking over rabbits Quote Link to post
Bunny Boiler 177
Any decent £200 scope 8x40 or similar will do for some amateur bunny bashing. Quote Link to post
Headshot08 36
I am also a big fan of fixed scopes. 6 X 40 would also suffice Steve Quote Link to post

shropshire dan 467
I use a mk1 Hawke eclipse 3-9x50 ir. Although I do leave it set at 6x mag. Mildot or other is a must imo Quote Link to post
irishnut 297
3-9x40 hawke hd sport. i have same on my 22lr and 17hmr. i leave it on 6 power, unless i'm playing around and trying to hit smaller targets than bunny heads. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Scopes and reticles get very personal and everyone has an opinion. If you mean a .22lr anything variable around the 3-12 mag area that you can see the intended quarry with and holds zero. £100 is plenty on the whole for normal field use, but spend what you want. RemyBolt 420
I just got a lovely new scope, thanks JJM. It's going on my .22lr, when I get it. However, I know it's massively overkill. It would be sufficient for most .223's at least. I'd be happy with it on a .223 or even a .243. If you're just popping bunnies, you really won't need anything more than 8x mag. I know a lot of guys that rock up with fixed 4x and others that like the accuracy of a 6x or 8x. The best thing you can do, get as many scopes that you already have, try them out. See what kinds of ranges you're aiming for (like what I did there? I'm the pun-master haha)and then adjust according to that data. As for brands and style of reticle....it's hugely down to preference. I got pretty good with a standard cross style, no mil dot or marks. However, I do recognise the benefits they hold and how brilliant a tool they can be for when you're having an off day. What current optics do you have access to? Quote Link to post

David Dey 2
Hi what's the best scope for my. 22. It's mostly for knocking over rabbits I use a Nikon Monarch 6x42 fixed power and it's all you will ever need, i'm looking for another for my .22mag. I find that money for money fixed power scopes tend to be clearer and less parts is allways better. DD Quote Link to post
