thebeekeeper4 1
as a newbie, I would like some help/advice on how to get into rabbit shooting. I live in shoreham, and have approached 2 farmers here who said that they were oversubscribed. I do not want payment, but would be prepared to pay for this activity. Thanks

maktayla 50
Hello & welcome beekeeper. This has to be one of the hardest, and for some, most daunting task of all. Perserverence is the key. Dont give up. As you are new to the forum, its good to get to know people. You never know, someone might end up introducing you or inviting you along. I wont go into it too much here, as you initially said you would like to get into rabbit shooting, the only question I would ask is, have you had any experience in this field? It would be best for you to start a topic and you should get all sorts of advice. If you are new to the shooting scene, (apologies if you are not) the most important thing to do before you go out after the rabbits is to practice, practice, practice. Once again mate, welcome to the Hunting Life.
j j m 6,539
get some flyers made mate and knock the farmers doors bud ,good luck
WhiteRabbit 112
Business cards and practice down a rifle range: that's all I'd pay for. Pest control isn't a free industry nor should we be paying anyone to do the work.... Just keep getting out there and knocking doors, looking presentable and taking any paper work and details with you (only incase they ask, you have them) be professional too, as much as it may be farmers or farm hands you'll be talking to, you want to show you're someone to do a job properly and with precision. Let us know how you get on. White
celticrusader 78
Sadly its about what and who you know, this can be a real pain in the ass for someone who's just starting out and shows an interest in fieldsports. One other option is to join or attend a shooting/target range as a walk in member and have a word with some of the members, joining to learn the info from other members and to learn the basic marksmanship principles and general firearm safety is paramount...who knows you may have an opportunity to go out with someone who is Willing to teach you. Dont forget to keep doorknocking and do get insurance possibly BASC would be more of an option for you as they run courses and provide information and when needed. Good luck. old shot 1
hi,i too had trouble getting a permission ,I tried for about 6 months asking all farms local to me,no joy ,but a chance conversation with my postman led to me getting 2 permissions in the same day,no big,one is a golf driving range and the other is a small farm park,it just shows that something will turn up eventually, golf courses are good to try ,keep at it something will turn up,its also a good idea to get insurance ,I have basc airgun ,under £50 a year well worth it and it helps good luck keep trying
sussex 5,777
As above mate , permissions are like gold dust , hard to find but it is there if you try hard enough ...good luck with it ..
Robster1 0
It's all been said above so can only really add to keep trying and that first impressions are everything! I found that being a member of BASC also helped as you will then have some insurance. Good luck fella.
