SINDASOX 255
Walking along a few weeks back and a Meadow Pipit flew out of the nest, had a quick look and found this, a Cuckoo had been in there by the look of things Had another look recently with the binoculars as you could just see her sitting on the nest, couldn't see her there no more, closer inspection revealed all eggs had gone. SINDASOX thats a shame that it would have been nice to see if it was a cuckoo egg it certainly looks like it and then a few pics of the pippit feeding the over large cuckoo chick would have been briliant

Mickey Finn 3,008
These are Killdeer. They hatch and up and running the same day. Their parents do the best broken wing fake out I've ever seen. Here's one sitting the nest last year. (same parking lot) Hatchling alone

Killdeer are actually Plovers that don't go near the shore. They nest in gravel parking lots, playgrounds, and anything similiar to that. One of my favorite summer birds to watch. ATB iv only ever found our plovers nesting inland, the first one i found was through what you said about having a pretend broken wing taking you away from its nest
