Technical Know How Needed..

Morning guys,

 

I'm just looking for a bit of advice.

 

A few days ago I bought a second hand HW80K, having said that the rifle is only about 6 months old.

 

The fella I bought it off had the trigger set very light, minimal first stage movement and not much pressure needed in the second stage to get the shot off.

 

I was enjoying the light let off until the trigger began to get lighter and lighter as I presume the trigger screw was turning more due to the vibration of the gun, on 2 occasions it became so light that the gun fired just from me releasing the safety.

 

I then tightened the screw to resolve the issue and in doing so, the trigger now just doesnt feel right.

 

I now get no second stage creep at all, and a very short first stage movement. I have tried tightening and loosening the screw but that only makes a difference to the first stage of the trigger, either being a short movment or nothing at all. No amount of screw turning makes any difference to the 2nd stage let off, I have to apply a fair bit of pressure (feels sort of stiff) no creep and then the shot fires. The pressure I now have to apply to get the shot off really affects my accuracy as its causing more tension in my trigger hand and more chance that I will pull the shot off target.

 

I love the gun and its really put a dampener on using it right now. I've never tinkered with any rifles and do not feel confident in opening it up to inspect the trigger, and to be honest, I'm not really sure that I would know what I'm looking for if I did.

 

I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience?

 

Any technical advice on what is causing the issue and more importantly, how I can resolve it, would be much appreciated?

There is quite a lot on information about the rekord trigger in the HW rifles so plenty to read about it.

I would say it is the torx screw at the front of the trigger that's causing problems rather than the big one you can get to when the stock is on.

Thanks for your reply Simon, I'll have a read into that later when I'm home. Unfortunately my work computer restricts access to anything gun related... ha ha.

 

I think ideally I need to get someone who knows what there doing to take a look at it, hopefully it will be a quick fix and wont cost me to much.

 

Only had the gun a few days and was really enjoying the results I was getting with it. I'll be delighted when that trigger is running smoothly again.

I've learnt to get along with the trigger for the time being and seem to be getting some good results now I'm used to it.

 

My priority at the moment is to get my HW97k fixed as its completely out of order.

 

Wish you lived round my way as I've seen some of the fantastic jobs you've done on a few rifles on here, keep up the good work.
