Dawn And Dusk Rabbiting

Recommended Posts

Well with all the usual sunday jobs my other half always seems to find me i thought i would get up early and try to bag some of the many bunnies on my most bountiful permission. When i got there the farmer was already out and about so it only really left me 1 field which is not that easy to stalk so i set up the other side of a bonfire in ambush. The pic below shows the trees on the opposite side where the rabbits come from under but they never stray too far. post-94518-0-71695200-1398634128_thumb.jpg

The result of the mornings ambush was three rabbits from 52 yards out to 56 yards. My best ever shooting so far i think.post-94518-0-26090900-1398634253_thumb.jpg

So aftet the days grass cutting and ferrying children and cooking were finished i decided to head back for an early evening till dark session. No long range shots, 38 yards was as far as necessary but bagged another 4 and thete are still loads around as nobody has shot on here for years apparently so i will be off for another session mid week hopefully.post-94518-0-67202600-1398634538_thumb.jpg

Thanks fellas. There are a couple of warrens that are really busy!! but they are all over the place really. I had only shot that field once before with my last rifle and spent ages crawling across the field only to miss 2 head shots from 40 yards so although I have been getting used the tx with longer range shots it was still in my mind but the rifle performs so well with superdomes that as long as you know your milldots and allow for windage (which last night there was none) the pellet goes exactly where you want it and still has cracking stopping power too. Well pleased :D

Its in .177 matt. I have had a few springers in .22 but have to say I love .177 for speed and flat trajectory and yes I was amazed too at how far this tx sends a superdome to the desired spot still with enough whollop to make a clean headshot.

Brilliant....those superdomes really are good aint they?

The TX is well suited to them, as is is look-a-likey, the 77...

I remember walloping a rabbit with a dome at a Very long range, it fell on its side kicking, we ranged it with one of the very first bushnell range finders, and it was very far!

This was in the mid 90's, I had alot of fun with the 77 and a pocket full of 'domes...

Good shooting...
