Pilot dog, smashing, prey drive, 'teeth', kin el, I can't keep up with all of today's gibberish! I'm glad I'm an old cnut!

The lad is a good lad in reality. Uses this place as most do for a laugh and a wind up. What's so bad about using using an older dog to enter a youngster on certain quarry??? or was it just the term"pilot" that brought about 11 pages?

I'm willing to bet at some stage most of you have ran an older dog with a sapling on certain things to get em going despite your protestations .

cheers stabba, it was the opposite I was intrigued of. How does a dog enter without an older dog as I've always used an older dog

i always found the best dogs will just enter themselves...........theres no right or wrong way to do it, and certainly no text book or forum guide will be the answer lol.........its a simple case of getting the dog fit and ready and when it is, slip it and see.......a dog will only know what you show it and if you show it an easy option ie doubled up with an older dog (or three or four in some cases  ) dont be surprised if its found wanting at times........

imo the best dogs are entered and worked singular.......but thats just me and no doubt others will have done and seen different and got results....... :victory:

disclaimer......:, above is spoken in historical terms and purely for fictional purposes....... :)

I think if the breeding and heart is there they will go shh,it will be you that need to show some restraint, easy to slip, but can't unslip, that's what will make or break the dog.
