The english and scottish national team was bit better in the 70s and 80s than it is now.

 

The scottish national team went down hill few years before english.

Due to the fact rangers and celtic bought all foreign players in the mid 90s.

The same is happening now with the top 4 and 5 teams in england.

When the last of this generation of older players fizzle out there going be no decent english players left.

Bout 10 or 15 years ago there just seem to be to much quality in the english team, I dont know whos got to replace them as there no yung english talent coming through the big teams anymore.

Here a fine example you have got one of the best cosistant left backs in the world for the past 10 years, sitting on a bench at chelsea.

 

Thats nonsense !........Foreign players were better than English players 30 years ago same as they are now,the only reason folk are comparing to the England team now is that those foreign players are playing in front of our eyes every week.......There is as much young talent coming through in Britain as there ever was.....infact moreso in Wales.......Scotland the game is dead compared to the players there was 30 years ago.

There was more quality and depth in the England team through the 90s and 2000s

There was lot more English players playing in the top English clubs.

Look at utd at their peak mostly British players that made the dressing room, built round one or two world class foreigners.

 

Look at the young players that were the next best thing since sliced bread in past few years.

Playing for few small clubs playing against westham or Swansea they look decent players.

Move out the small pond and sign for big club and they can't compete at that level (CL).

Then they fizzle out.

 

I'm not trying to slag England off to be honest I'm not interested in that.

If the players can't compete in the top 4 teams in the country in has knock on effect on the national team.

 

West ham il give them there due they have had few decent players over they years come through there youth development.

We are not in disagreement mate only a fool would say the influx of average foreign footballers hasnt had an effect on the national team..........but you pay your money and take your pick do we want an average league and a halfway decent national side.....or do we want the best league in the world and a national side thats not quite as good as it was.....either way the national side are not going to win anything and we have fantastic entertainment on a weekly basis so as a mere football fan im all for it.

I'm a neutral English support.

I use to go to rangers every week years ago

Watch sat and super Sunday every week.

If there was decent football up here I go n watch it but it's like watching paint dry now.

Now I go watch London clubs when down at in laws.

I have been watch w ham twice, Fulham, spurs and chelsea this season.

I like upton as it's the closest to Colchester in laws.

 

I enjoy watching English football the best.

Don't like the Spanish or German leagues.
