drid 22
I hate slime that appears on minced chicken so for that reason I feed em whole or in half or quarters, but always on bone
drid 22
Its only slime if u use plates with small holes. I got a plate with 8mm holes. And its alot better !!

irishnut 297
the important thing is to feed the dog a good mix of feed. i'm steering away from nuts/dry "dog food", as it is shite in a bag. the dogs pen smells terrible when fed on nuts, and turds are loose. on minced chicken, rice and left over veg the turds are as hard as a whores heart. easy lifted and no smell. fresh bones are great for keeping dogs busy, and good for jaws and teeth. i don't think dogs need bread or rice, as they don't process the carbs, but its left overs and its a sin to waste it. i did a test on my lurcher, put down a few bowls, 1 had chicken leg bones, 1 had same but minced, 1 had pasta onion and carrots with sausage, 1 with redmills tracker and the fecker lifted the peanut butter sandwich i had sitting on the patio table.
skycat 6,173
Maybe he was trying to tell you that he needed more oil/fat in his diet
wi11ow 2,657
£12 60lb box its as good as any my ferrets love it
irishnut 297
I get the skin put into the chicken mince. There is no shortage of oil in the skin. Dog gets very good variety in diet. So peanut butter was purely a taste preference
teesshikari 7
I can see the logic in feeding raw carcasses but I can't get past the mental block of being told as a kid not to give dogs small bones as they might splinter. I have chickened out and buy pet mince and ox livers from the butcher that I mix with chopped carrot and apples etc. Only on my first lurcher and so new to the breed. I am now reading through RUNNING DOG MAINTENANCE regarding feeding and mincing does sound good. I wish I had the nerve to try full chicken carcasses with bones. Probably better for the dog and woud save me buying denta chews and cow hooves !
irishnut 297
You only need to worry about cooked chicken bones. They splinter into needle sharp pieces
Magwitch 687
If you freeze the carcasses slightly they go through the mincer better and come out a better texture, not a greasy mess................
