rob2278 2
I work next to an APC depot, have enquired about sending an air rifle with them and said it was not possible. Saying that though, I packaged it up anyway, sent it in a box that originally had light fitting in and it got to its destination with no issues. Quote Link to post

I used to work for APC. If you look on their website, they specifically exclude guns of any kind. True, if you didn't tell them, they wouldn't know, but if they lost it or broke it, you wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Quote Link to post
moxy 617
I was at my local euro tran depot and noticed five rifle shaped packages on the conveyor belt with the sender details from a local gun shop. Quote Link to post

It won't be insured either (not that you get a lot of cover) Quote Link to post
4sight 31
I was at my local euro tran depot and noticed five rifle shaped packages on the conveyor belt with the sender details from a local gun shop. The local gunshop has probably opened a trade account with them. This is a different issue. The only company that will knowingly transport an air rifle is ParcelForce48. You can try AWT, some say that they will carry an air rifle. I phoned AWT, the guy gave me his email address and said to contact him, he never replied to my email. Quote Link to post
4sight 31
Hello All, I am sending my rifle for a service to the 'Air Gun Doctor', i have rung Parcel Force who are not interested. Does anybody know of a courier provider I can use? Thanks John... Hi John, when you phoned them, what did they say?. What air rifle are you sending, springer or PCP. I took this from the Parcelforce website: General prohibitions and restrictions The below sets out the requirements that apply to Retail customers only. For full details of the requirements that apply to Account customers, please see our Account Prohibitions and Restrictions RESTRICTED GOODS Arms and Ammunition Low-powered air weapons (air rifles, air guns and air pistols), together with lead pellets and other airgun and airsoft projectiles, can be sent but are subject to the following conditions: 1. These items must be sent on an express48 service only 2. These items must be sent via the Post Office® only (not via any other channel e.g. www.parcelforce.com, call-centre, reseller or Parcelforce Worldwide depot). 3. Enhanced compensation cover is not available (low-powered air rifles, air guns or air pistols and lead pellets and other airgun and airsoft projectiles will only be covered up to the maximum amount of inclusive cover for express48). Note: Low powered air weapons are defined as air rifles, air guns or air pistols capable of discharging a missile so that the missile has, on being discharged from the muzzle of the weapon, kinetic energy not in excess, in the case of an air pistol, of 6ft lb. or, in the case of an air weapon other than air pistol, of 12 ft. lb. Any air rifle, air gun or air pistol which uses or is designed or adapted for use with, a self-contained gas cartridge system is a prohibited weapon and cannot be sent. If you send an air rifle with them, the insurance cover is very low. Don't try sending a rifle or pistol designed for use with a sparklet type cartridge - I'm assuming that this is what they are referring to when they say a self-contained gas cartridge. I copied this from their website. ATB Dave Edited May 5, 2014 by 4sight Quote Link to post

whistler1 26
The only problem with parcel force48hr,is the the max insurance of a 100 quid.Took my r10 to there Depo 3 weeks ago.Told them what it was,not a problem.Got delivered in 23hrs.Even had a chap who works in the processing centre tell me what shute it went down...lol.If you can live with the low insurance cover, then PF48hr is an option. The good thing about the 48hr delivery,is it,s not x-rayed for mainland delivery. So it wont be going to Belfast.....Or as i said earlier, you could do RFD to RFD transfer,i also done that the week before i sent my r10 PF48...chap sent an hw100 i purchased to my local RFD,cost to me £20.
