Durham & Northumberland Wt Club Show. 11Th May

Recommended Posts

Talk of shows being fixed,- i remember being at a show, several years ago, at the terrier ring, surrounded by the dog show lads,- when a smartly dressed middle-aged woman, took her Border Terrier into the ring. You should have heard the laughter, and how they shouted her down. Shouting fix if she won.

What they did not know was , that her husband, was a well known working terrier man, and he did not want the risk of "cries of fix" if he entered the terrier himself. I don't think anyone knew his wife, so she took the dog in the ring. I think it got placed, but his dogs were actually working dogs, and he had gone to support the show. What if it had won.

this is why I dont go to many shows, cant stand all this bollox... who cares which dog gets picked! If I was judging Id pick the ugliest feckers there just to wind you ribbon chasers up.

The committee of the club were more than happy with the judging but there is plenty that isn't suppose you cant keep everyone happy

Durham and Northumberland Working Terrier Club show Show field, Blanchland Co Durham DH8 9UB   Sunday May 11th 2014 Show starts 12.00pm Details, contact J.Winch 01207 507785   Terriers, Lurc

now photos would be good there was two rings going one ring was fair but the shorter judge of the two. I would be embarrassed to show my face at a dog show ever again. roll on tea bags "neil" dog show its a far better show with fair judges.

I was at the show today and enjoyed the crack with a few friends I don't see much.

On the bull cross thing, and as I said before, I will not slag anyones dog of. There were 6 or 7 fine looking dogs in the ring that looked more than fit for purpose. 2 black dogs ( 1 was 4th ), the red dog, a fawn dog, a nice black and white dog, a grey/red/blueish dog ( if that makes sense ) and I must say I was very surprised to see a very young puppy winning, as were the people standing next to me outside the ring ( who I don't know ).

I made a 6 hour round trip to this and If I had a dog in there I too would have been unhappy with the choice of winner and I'm not saying you should win because you came from the furthest corner of the globe. It's all about fun, yes, but come on !!

FWIW

Ribbons don't interest me, shows for me are for keeping in touch with mates. I like to take pups / juniors with me to meet, greet and socialise with other dogs / humans. Staying out in the sticks makes this a difficult task, I had 2 with me yesterday and they will benefit well from the experience as does my young son by getting involved. If I do enter a class, I see it more as a donation that will help a club to operate.

As for who cares who wins.

I would say the people who show their dogs do. They spend good money on fuel, food, spend lots of time and money to get their dogs looking well and if thats their thing then good as at the end of the day they care for their dogs as much as anyone else and that can only be good for the dog.

I like you, like a wind up but what I saw yesterday does the poor organisers no favours whatsoever ;)

To be honest there wasn't many dog's up there this year were I thought that's a nice thing there was only one or two I was talking to one of the lads that helps organise it and he said he wasn't happy about the people who was laughing and stuff when the bull xs started fighting in stead of getting them under control which is out of order an I think the judges were from Scotland badger sorts them out most years
