sandymere 8,263
They will not take notice of us, we're no more than a flea on their arse, they can turn the taps of on or energy supplies and we'd be fecked lol. But they will have more respect for the EU and USA, they might push but know that sanctions can harm their economy, nothing like money to cool heads. Just a shame we seem to be going back to a less stable time.
Born Hunter 17,828
Turn the taps off on who's energy supplies? We aren't dependant on Russia for energy, it's one of the sensible things Blair did. The Europeans jumped into bed with them, not the UK. scothunter 12,609
I compare NATO to communism ( wait for it born) lol As in they both work on paper " only" You like to remind us if all this uber technical hardware we have. And this force that is NATO. We can't even purge( well wrong word subdue lol) A backward nation like Afghanistan. Reason being you will never get all those nations on side, see the backsliding from some countries over Iraq and Afghanistan. Imagine the turncoats if the Russians were bearing down on those borders. Aye if history has taught us anything no matter the numbers or the hardware, it means jack shit if that country defies you.

I haven't said the UK could beat Russia, that's a bit ridiculous. I said we would utterly f**k Argentina, which we would and that what we have right now is very capable of dealing with intrusive Russian destroyers and bombers, which they are. That's all mate. Well, Sandy spoke about 'us', the EU and the US as three sparate entities so I assumed by 'us' he was referring to the UK? And if we want to talk about using energy as a weapon, lets see how the yanks play it as they have recently found it in their arsenal too. Something which they are yet to exploit offensively. scothunter 12,609
Ohh were back to Argies my bad. Thought it was the Russians again . Aye we would beat the argues if it came to shove, But mate there has never been a battle or war that went according to plan, In the theatre of war do much can either go for you it against you. Like a debate with you born lol Oh and f**k the yanks lol
Born Hunter 17,828
I might be a bit optimistic in my patriotism but I'm not completely deluded, lol, the UK alone isn't a match for Russia and these days it would take something quite bold and incredible I believe to get any sort of united commitment from NATO. I'm not a mental war monger either, I just believe that if a powerful aggressor genuinely believes that you won't hesitate to stand your ground in spite of poor odds, all you need is the ability to inflict enough damage and they'll write the prospect of aggression off as uneconomical. We have the tools to do that, quite possibly not the resolve mind, but the tools and that's all I really mean when I get on my 'rule Britannia' rants. LOL

BIG G wheton machine 1,594
1 thing about gb it always used to punch well above its weight, key word being used. With all the soft as Shiite bleeding heart liberals trying to jail everybody who goes to war and kills the enemy ( marine a). Then when a poor soldier gets butchered In his own streets in broad daylight what did they do? Absolutely fcuk all. Whys that? There's more balls in a ladies football team. I'd hate to see us if Russia tried to invade of if Germany ever tried its luck again. The only hope we'd have is by starting at the top of our own government 1 st then onto the foreign enemy

What they did in the 80's they could not do now, give the MOD some credit ffs. What we had on the Islands in the 80's was 1000 lightly armed marines, a few landys and an Antarctic ship armed with a handfull of GPMGs...... what we have now is a tad more capable.
