Quick Walk

Recommended Posts

Went out today for my usual walk with my saluki x grey. Every time on this walk I pass an old gravel works which I've never gone into as the walk is on a nature reserve but today I ventured in and found an old works road with banks on either side surrounded by old gravel pits now lakes. Couldn't believe how many rabbit holes there were hundreds. I walked the next hour and a half watching the mut running around like a lunatic i headed home. Back tomo with my mates jack!

hixxy if it was me I would forget the ferreting better wait till back end when you can see more and theres less cover and nests /young its a lot easier just get a ferret of working lines there will be plenty of young ferrets about soon enough but get a locator and see if someone will let you tag along in winter and show you the ropes if you are thinking about nets theres a thread pinned in the ferreting section all about nets or just ask in the ferret section its worth a look just enjoy exploring your new ground with the sun on your back

Don't ferret it now, it'll be nowt but grief. You were right first time, a mooch with a decent bushing dog and your youngster will be best, learn the ground and make sure there are no dangers. Can be nasty cliffs and drops in old quarries. Save the ferreting for later on.

Wasn't sure as inexperienced but thanks. I'm not really up for digging and really think the mooch approach will give better enjoyment I'm not after result just after a good walk and one for the pot, I like the idea of ferreting and will do but there is a lot of growth obviously to dig around. By the way that pic was laddies first bunny so wasn't a boast was just chuffed thanks all the same jimmy!
