salukixgrey 779
I thought she had kennel cough at first she seemed ok after a while so started to exercise her just free running she came back and was coughing couldn't hardly breath so I got her to the vets they said they could hear a little rattle on her chest gave me gran fen for lung worm and antibiotics told to exercise her as normal, few days later and I take her for walk she see dear long way off and takes of. She comes back panting real bad I get her in car and when I get home she starts coughing again and I notice a lump coming up in her throat I get her straight to the vets and her tough had swollen bad like a massive blood blister again I get more antibiotics and anti inflamatary tablets, lump went down... Vets said it could be lung worm but I've always advocate her regular so I can't see how she always seems like she is blocked up and nose runs abit clear mucus I've read all types of things on the internet, I think she finished I got a bad feeling it something serious... Has any one ever heard of this it's been going on a few months now she about 18 months now? It's just baffling me I can't get her right she a good little bitch it's a sickener I'm scared to let her of the lead again at minute just can't work out what it is. Desmond 480
If it is lungworm it takes quite a bit of time to treat,i wouldnt be allowing her to do any free excercise if it were me,treat it and just lead walk her and keep her quiet,id also get a second opinion from a good running dog vet if you havent already, its the offseason so at least you have plenty of time to try and get her right

I ain't going to give up on her just be sick had a dog get lung worm before and wasn't the same again lost all power and stamina when running, I don't think she got lung worm though I reckon it's something else. salukixgrey 779
I've read tumors can cause this and cancer ect... That's what makes me think it's serious she had few different courses of tablets had her on manuka honey been treated for lung worm had plenty of rest surely if it was a infection it would have been cleared up by now??? trigger2 3,146
some vets can look down the throat with a camera mate. it might by worth looking down that road if the symptoms continue. might be a tad expensive though, it sounds like it could be a process of ilimination. sandymere 8,263
Can you claify what you mean when you say "She comes back panting real bad I get her in car and when I get home she starts coughing again and I notice a lump coming up in her throat I get her straight to the vets and her tough had swollen bad like a massive blood blister again I get more antibiotics and anti inflamatary tablets, lump went down..." where was the swelling in her throat back top etc, did you look down her throat and see it or notice it from the outside, how big??? was it there whwn the vet examined/ what do you mean by tongue like a blood blister, was it just red, how swollen?? Did the vet listen to here heart, was it normal? was her temperature normal at ther vets? Did they do bloods?M More info will help people make a more informed answer. So far 1st thoughts EIB, Lung worm , Heart failure, infection. unfit, allergy, Rhabdo etc... What colour is her urine? Is she losing weight? How long have you owned dogs? Re you sure its not just a hot swollen tongue/ mouth lining of a dog run in warm weather? Edited April 23, 2014 by sandymere
