My jill is showing nipples now they are also reddening, she's bulging out at the sides and stashing her food esp the fresh meat I give her. she started showing these symptoms a week or so after I separated them but she could have conceived way before this.

Make sure you increase her food intake because she needs the extra calories, least this is what I was advised. And mines eating like a pig :tongue2:

Aside from a bulging, round stomach that's the only other obvious symptom ive seen in mine. They will also make nests and you'll see them hiding under them. i have observed plenty of mates' jills throughout their pregnancies but this is my first litter. so if this is your first too then we're in the same boat.

Can they start to bite then my Jill dosent seem to be bothered about me picking her up. Atm anyway lol. I clean her out every2 days so that's her cage is all clean for her. When will I defiantly begin to tell. That she's pregnant. I'm more than certain she is. Just it's my first time breeding.

Yeah i have some mates who's lovely natured jills turn into wild animals and bite to the bone. I have been given the advice to leave them to it 2 weeks following the birth don't disturb them but replace their food, water etc and just stick in some more bedding but dont touch the nest. Some people know their jills very well and have had several litters by them, may have a strong bond with them and can handle the kits from birth. But this can only be if the particular jill is one that doesn't turn into a monster lol

Lol I better keep an eye on her then she's not biting me lol. Can't see her biting tho as she's never bitten me no once not even tryed to if you ask me. But that's not been pregnant maybe she will change thru pregnancy. Thanks for the advise guys so leave the kits untill there at least 2 weeks old then and don't disturb the nest. What's best for her to make her nest with would you say shredded paper and soft hay. Thanks

Nest material i use hay and let her get on with it, she will sort it out. I trust my ferrets 100% but they can turn nippy whilst with young so caution advised .She will let you know if she is happy or not.Personaly i check my litters day one with minimal disturbance but i know my jills well ,if you have any doubt leave alone!!

One more thing is does her piss smell a lot stronger when pregnant as cleaned her out earlier and to me it smelt stronger. A lot stronger is that normal. Or not. She's putting weight on can see it on her lol. Going to have so cracking workers from these 2
