Game Farm Job In Powys With Accomodation

Recommended Posts

I could bore you allwith tales of hard ship gamefarming and keepering are about as far apart as you will ever get these days. To be on a rearing field 7 days aweek right through the season is a twat of a job for little reward from start to finish , were not taliking about caching up and laying pens then sitting in a shed with a light bulb and cardbord cut out to check the embrio then incubater then hatch and small sheds the way it used to be were talking mass production to sell thousands upon thousands chicken farm tactics dust shite more dust feed bags full of shit water hoses gas bottles boring mudane work you either knuckle down and do it and use it as knowledge or dont Its labour they want not a trainnee keeper.

That is bang on I went straight into it after school I think there was 4 of us and we got free lodge and 18 quid a week. As you say it was just labour under the guise of trainee keeper. There was a promise for me to go up to north wales and work as a proper trainee up there as I used to buckle down and graft which they loved. Asked me too work one weekend and promised me a free sunday lunch out. Thanks for that but I think I will go home for weekend and do bit of ferreting and have nice beef dinner round the grand mothers bit more appealing

Minus accommodation fee!! lol. It's them that require staff to stay on site due to there businesses remote location. Chancing feckers :-)

Not being funny right but keepering is hard to get into I know that I've been there but what's way all the macho talk seriously you were bitting in a shed you nearly passed out were took outside hosed

4 months work experience to stick on your cv ------could lead to better things

I think the job is as hard as you want to make it really, it's not the hard job it once was with all the new equipment like automatic drinkers, feeding systems and thermostatic heaters.

There was a day when I was younger when I was falling asleep in the bath at 12 at night knowing I was checking birds at 4/5 again.

It's more stressful than physical I found.....shite jobs like biting soon weeds out the workers or the failures.

Anyway I've never asked anyone too do anything is never do or had never done.

It's a job I'll not miss.

just as a pointer to some who may just be thinking about it, he's collecting in excess of 1800 eggs a day at the moment, every day , first lot due to hatch in a fortnight, then it just gets from busy to f****n hectic i would imagine lol.

He uses bristol incubators and the same hatchers ... And he has a old Weston 10 I'm told ...Personally I think it's a great life... 7 month on 5 month off :-) lots if permission can be gained when out delivering birds to shoots... It does make you quite anti social though lol

It doesn't sound a big place though ... I was doing 3000 hens on my own for 2 seasons
