Tron 173
The HW is a well engineered gun but against it is the weight, fully scoped up it is like a lead weight to tote around if it was that good I would of thought the present owner would keep it. Makes you wonder why the present owner wants rid of it?. Quote Link to post
Lancashire Hunter 22
He said its to heavy for him and he has a bad back as it is. Or might just pay 130 asking price and keep both Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
If you got a nice gun shooting sweet then dont get rid! If the hw80 is only 13p quid just buy it and have both! Quote Link to post

gurtwurz 792
Buy it and restore it mate, it's very rare to find an that can't be made to shoot well with a bit of TLC. Quote Link to post
Ads 39
Is 130 quid not a bit expensive for an older in that condition or is it about right? I've got a 77 that's a bit rough but just needs blueing, I didn't think it was worth that much or are the 80s better? Adam Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
I wouldn't say the 80's better than a 77, although it's a faster handling rifle. Although, since getting my 77, I haven't touched the . I've seen 80's with restraightened barrels go for 150, and fully tuned tidy ones for 250-300. But the same with 77's, they both seem to hold the same sort of value second hand. As usual, it's a case of trying before buying and seeing what you think, but you don't hear of a completely un retrievable hw very often, although I'm sure they're probably out there.
