Hi all just had my crosman tr77 tuned by welsh willy shoots lovely really pleasant to shoot.

But i have been offerd a px for a hw 80 one of the earlier ones bit tatty and rough in .22 and 40 quid to the other guy. Now question is do i take the trade i know that i get brilliant build and reliability with the weihrauch but as i said mine has been welsh willy tuned and is something rather speciel whats your opinions?

Thanks

The HW 80 is a well engineered gun but against it is the weight, fully scoped up it is like a lead weight to tote around if it was that good I would of thought the present owner would keep it. Makes you wonder why the present owner wants rid of it?. :hmm:

Is 130 quid not a bit expensive for an older 80 in that condition or is it about right? I've got a 77 that's a bit rough but just needs blueing, I didn't think it was worth that much or are the 80s better?

I wouldn't say the 80's better than a 77, although it's a faster handling rifle. Although, since getting my 77, I haven't touched the 80. I've seen 80's with restraightened barrels go for 150, and fully tuned tidy ones for 250-300. But the same with 77's, they both seem to hold the same sort of value second hand. As usual, it's a case of trying before buying and seeing what you think, but you don't hear of a completely un retrievable hw very often, although I'm sure they're probably out there.
