I think it would be a good idea to have a missing /stolen dog section on here so if people buy a dog and it seems too good for the money they can check on the thread I know topics get pinned for a while but I been trying to find the topic on tillys sister stolen so I could check a bitch against it as cant remember exactly what she looks like but cant find it no where anyone else think this is a great idea ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

microchips can migrate internally, they can sometimes fail, and if they are inserted subcut then yes you may be able to feel them and cut them out. BUT your vet ( if he is any good) will be ebale to inject the chip straight into the nuchal ligament ( we do this with a lot of our livestock) and then not only is it very unlikely to migrate, but also impossible to feel, so even if you can scan it you will be unable to locate depth etc so to remove it becomes a big job.

 

obviously , they are no use if the dog doesnt get found. but any dog handed in to rescue, police etc will be scanned straight away.

 

yes there are compatibility issues with some chips and readers, but any rescue centre etc will be aware of these and own more than one type of scanner

 

all my dogs have been chipped for years now, just that extra chance, however small, that they might be recovered should the worst happen is worth while to me

well if it gets one dog back pp and stops others buying nicked ones by checking the photos and info it can only be a good thing,cant see why some are objecting sooner its done the better,atb mc
