the prob is they take some getting rid of once you have them like I said fireman I seen three on a bird whilst ringing all you can do is treat spray and try keep them under control haven't see any since but birds are treated as for the lad I went to treated his birds and cleaned them all out up to him now

WHAT i think his this for mite to be about this early in ther yr his initself unusual ,we aint had no real hot weather . THE only other conclusion his they been there a while and the bit a warm weather has kick started them with the brooding etc they can go without feeding for 9 mths ,dormant etc, ardap ,poultry shield diatoms etc ,spraying the crevices with poultry shield every couple weeks will keep them away kills the eggs and all ,also ivomec the birds cotton bud dap back neck 1 percent for cattle etc. atb bunnnys.

not had probs for a long time ,but had some once when I bought some cages in, they looked spotless but must have had the mites ,as said they can live in the shed/under roof felt ect. take some getting rid,i removed the cages and cleaned with smite the mite, nearly every day for a good while, only put birds back in year after not had none since ,best spot to find em is under nest felts if there present, also scrub with old type vim,but don't know if its still available, best to check close new birds/ equipment when buying in atb.

don't know about that fireman,i do no a lad who showed game fowl to a high standard, and keeps cage birds ,his stock are exeptionaly clean and looked after and he sufferd the mites a few seasons back so goes to show they can thrive in any conditions not just dirty set ups, hope I never see them again.atb

believe me my sheds are spotless as you can see from the pics but ive had them for the last three seasons and a nightmate to shift but with the spot on last 2 seasons numbers are dropping as for the lads hull I went to it was spotless and he was overrun with them and a brand new block shed but did have a felt roof

I sippose its like anything you just have to minimise the risk and if the chemicals are out there to do that its silly not to use them......ive no idea what it is but i whacked a load of the gear on that Taz sent me and no signs so far :D ......my view is if the technology is out there then use it.
