is he only doing this when you are out ?

if so its separation anxiety there are lots of different 'cures ' for it what worked for me going out for a few mins then coming home over and over gradually leaning for longer also the Kong toys (the ones you fill with meat or treats) so they have something to focus his attention on. it takes time but can be stopped

if he gets too bad you can always crate him when your out ,i see your on dartmoor i live on the dart :bye: moor too

yes i would crate him while your out when i got my youngest terrier i crated it from the start the, crate stays in a corner of my living room she goes in there whenever i am out i am pretty sure she would never chew anything now but its a routine and we stick to it and she likes her own little bit of space

My dogs have always lived in as pups and the pintching food i can live with a good lurcher should be an oppertunist its a case of making sure he cant get to anything.

As for the chewing of toys better to learn him that he cant touvch anything he wants every time you see him try let him know in no uncertain terms hes doing wrong he will click in the end plus before you leave him give him a decent workout they dont pine so much if theyve had attention and are tired from a walk.
