DenBell 149
sorry lads, was far too tired to write. my brother in law twisted my arm and got me to go up to the farm last night, as we pulled into the farm we saw a rabbit about 40 yards away beside a massive trailer so i opened gun bag and loaded the mag and put the window down. took aim from the drivers seat shooting out of the passenger side. pulled the trigger, TING. i was thinking there is no way the zero could be out that much that its 4-5 feet off target and hitting the ttrailer, reloaded and, TING!! What the fudge was happening! as i reloaded for the third time i realised i had shot my chrome wing mirror, TWICE!!! what an ideot. sat back a bit further, half a mil high and straight through the eye. (See pic 1) We have been to this farm 3-4 times now and still haven't covered the whole thing! so we headed to a new part for a recy. we saw two rabbits on the hedge line. i lamped from a distance while Ad stalked. they got startled a couple of times but just moved off a few feet so after about 45 minutes he got within distance and shot the nearest one. straight over, the second one blitzed off, while he was on his way to pick it up i not so noticed another one 15 yards from where he was but he hadnt seen it so i flicked the lamp on and off to get his attention, i got the thumbs up so i left the lamp on it and and After dropping to one knee and another clean shot it was two for him. on to another feild that has a telegraph pole in it with some burrows under it there was a set of eyes a couple of yards from the burrow because of the terrain and the long grass i could just make out its head took aim just above the eye to avoid the grass, when i took the shot i heard the pellet hit, the rabbit jumped up and away from the burrow and hit the deck, had a walk up the hill but couldnt find it in the long grass and uneven ground. we must have stalked another 10 or more only for them to nick off at the last. disheartened about only getting the one ii trudged back to the truck and the security lights on the cattle barn were on and a decent sized rabbit was sitting with its back to me head down, tried to squeak but got no reaction so aimed at the back of the head and just as i was squeezing the trigger it stood up and the pellet went through its back, rabbit dropped to the deck and was twitching alot so reloaded and waited for a shot on its head and put it down properly. both shots were standing unsupported which i have not done alot but find that if i take the shot as soon as the rifle is shouldered and target centered i hit a better shot, rather than holding it a while and going all shakey. Yoda moment over! Edited April 19, 2014 by DenBell 1 Quote Link to post
