Joe1888 672
Everyone on here giving dogs a rest or still planning to give them a few runs in next few months? Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
Should really give everything a chance to have their young in peace ,plus hot weather not good for running dogs in, IMHO 9 Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
I stopped lamping a fortnight ago but I won't stop mooching everyday. Don't go out looking for runs but the dogs put stuff up and get the odd run. I aren't one for keeping them on a lead for 6 months. 6 Quote Link to post

Same as me mate, if she puts something up I'm not going to be screaming at her not to run it 1 Quote Link to post

It's not the same giving them a run across a football pitch when they are used to hunting up and working to their own game. You just can't substitute for that mental stimulation. 1 Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
For me, the only people who should be running dogs now is those who have youngsters on that can't wait, or folk who need to act on genuine pest control calls. You with older dogs should have give 'em plenty over the winter, so this time of year its long walks in a change of scenery, taking stock and forward planning for the end of summer...??? pip1968 2,490
every where i go by mine theirs rabbits so its unavoidable not to chase anything and the dogs are constantly working the cover in the woods either for rabbits or squirrels and sometimes the odd fox which happened this morning Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
I'm sure most dogs don't NEED to be running game year round ,rest tired muscles and tendons will pay dividends for next season.bring young dogs on on a few green rabbits but that's it .no need for it IMHO. No one's saying they have to stay kennelled 2 Quote Link to post
Rabbiting man 1,191
I've stopped hunting. But if a farmer or landowner phones to do some pest control, I will have to go to keep them happy & to keep my ground. Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
That's fair enough, genuine pest control .But there's pest control and summer hunting killing young hares and rabbits, not very sporting or productive for next season . 1 Quote Link to post
