Dog peddlers.........

I beleive that compromise is the key to resolving all problems so one way that might work would be to just have a WANTED section where people looking for a pup/gun/net/jeep/spade etc etc can advertise stating what they are looking for, and then people who see the advertisement can reply via Pm you can even make it so that people can start topics in the section but no one can reply to them, forcing them to use the pm system. I think it could work well :thumbs:

This is a great idea  , agree totally.

Slightly off track maybe, but i say anyone seen with a dog on a bit of string at a show or whatever and the dog has a 4 sale sign around it,s neck, the idiot with the two legs should be shot or at the very least maimed for life immediatly.:hmm:

PS, that is a genuine view not a wind up.

any one buying a dog should do their research first on the dog and the person. so as duckwing says if their are lots of post from the same person selling the same thing. steer clear

if your stupid enough to buy a dog from some one like that then thats your look out.

i agree in a perfect world they wouldn't be aloud to post.

How can you ever advertise something through PM :hmm:

I hate peddlers as much as the next man and it does piss ya off a little when someone joins just to sell pups, but to get rid off the classifieds is just being silly IMO

Looking at the classifieds on this forum makes us look like it's a doggy swap shop. We all hate peddlers yet there are pages and pages of people selling dogs on.

If people want to buy and sell shit then use Ebay... or is because it's absolutely free here that it attracts so many?

You can argue the toss about how many posts are needed to trade but why have the shit here in the first place? You might need 1 post, 10 posts, 1000 posts but if you want to be here purely to sell stuff you'll soon spam the boards enough to get your post count up enough to trade.

Get rid of that forum and remove the stigma that is attached to the hunting world. The stigma of the dog peddler. It's a f*****g embarrassment and hangs around our necks like a millstone. Is this The Hunting Life or the f*****g Loot?

Im monitoring the situation chaps. This site is not for peddling and anyone that obviously joins to sell pups/dogs will be deleted. The site is for people to discuss matter not to make money.....Cheers JD

im sick of telling you about the peddlers mate, ban the lot they in it to make poke  who would breed three litters a year :icon_eek::thumbdown::feck:

I,m with Chris on this one. People who have a genuine litter of good quality pups for sale, generally GIVE them away to other genuine users, which are usually friends. Animals bred from good stock, dont need advertising.I,m all for stopping ALL livestock ads on here, it just encourages the idle b*****ds who peddle pups and ferrets, because they cant be bothered to get off their arse, and do a days work. I,ve always thought that, if you dont have homes for pups, dont f*****g breed them.

I personally think the classifieds are a good thing, yes people peddling dogs is really shit, but its not just dogs, its nets, locators, guns, leads, collars, traps, etc, etc not just dogs, we need a better way to improve things without wiping it out..The 50 post limit sounds a good suggestion to get rid of spammers and peddlers who join and just sell on a first post...any other ideas?

:clapper: This is a difficult one.. :hmm::hmm:

The most 'obvious' place to sell a hunting dog,.or pups,..is in a place where hunting men gather,..

;IE The Hunting Life website.....

However, for business minded characters who simply breed an endless stream of jukels ,.just to sell,...well,..maybe some restrictions should be put into force...

FIRSTLY,....no more of this whinging when interested parties 'ask too many questions'...

Too fecking right there will be questions : ..Loads of them... :D

If folk asked for more information about a pup's background BEFORE they purchased it,.perhaps they would be better informed BEFORE going and getting it as regards it's suitability for the task it is intended

So,.'sellers' should be prepared to answer certain questions about their stock,..and the best of these breeders should also be asking questions of potential buyers...

This enquiring mode of behaviour could be relaxed a tad when the item for sale is obviously the result of a genuine falling out twixt both parties ,...and is,.quite frankly better off in a new home...

In cases such as these I feel that we should do our utmost to get these dogs back out into the field and placed in a happier billet...I for one,.owe my life to the lurchers,..so I love to see a happy ending..

In conclusion,...let the 'dog dealer types'..do their thing,.but make them accountable for what they have created  If they refuse to answer 'probing questions' ,.such as,.does the dog have four fecking legs',.etc,.and angrily label you as being a time waster,..then simply blank the critters,... :D

All the best,...Hampshire Hunting Dawg Kennels ( pups always available)...no messers.... :drink::drink:

I agree with Chalkwarren, though I do object to the heading: Buy, Sell or Swap: that DOES sound bad: "don't like this dog so I'll swap it for a different" springs to mind.

Just to add, its all very well only breeding if 100s of pups are already spoken for, but for the likes of me who seldom go out in company, have ever fewer friends (no I'm not sad, just choosy! LOL) and have all but given up going to shows, it would be very difficult to find really good working homes if I didn't advertise: and I'd sooner advertise on here than anywhere else.

OK, so the forums have their share of d*ckheads but it'l life in a goldfish bowl, and mostly someone who knows someone would could vouch for or the opposite if someone was thinking of selling a pup,

Oh, by the way..........I'm breeding a litter next year: anyone interested? :whistling::laugh:

Couldn't agree more chalkie, I think litters and dogs should be available on THL and I also agree that who in their right mind buys a dog without asking a shedload of questions first? When I buy a dog I keep it for life so i'm not buying something on a whim thats going to be in my kennel for 15 odd years.

Ian the 50 post minimum sounds good, but as Ditchy mentioned many rack up 50 "nice dogs" posts.........
