Recommended Posts

As above was just wondering what is fast for a lurcher I know grey dominant crosses will be rapid an first crosses not so quick I ask as I clocked my small ish 22tts bull/whip Xcolly/grey on the beach at 37mph I wasn't pushing him at all the dog was miles away with the boy I drove over and got the boy leaving the missus maybe 300 400 yards away give or take she was shouting like fk as women do an the dog was off I caught up along side him held steady and and clocked 37mph I was shocked I've seen fast dogs in the field but never really appreciated how fast they are running anyone clocked there's ?

Speedometers show your speed about 3mph than you are actually doing, assuming you havn't fitted bigger tyres.

It would be a worthy challend to get a lurcher setting off a speed camera.

Fair point so 34 mph still nt bad if that's the case I know if I stuck my head out of the window at that speed and tryed to concentrate on somthing the size of a rabbit I'd have no chance lol speed camera now there's an idea lmao

Get ya self a speedo off a bike stick one part to the back leg and one to the front and sit on the c**ts back haha fecking clocking ya dogs speed. Sounds like you need to get ya self a track dog mate your in the wrong game atb jimmy.

U got me wrong I dnt care how fast my dog runs being a lurcher is not all about speed it's catching it's game whatever that may be I was just suprised when I found out how fast it did run and wonderd if anyone else knew what an average lurcher ran just to satisfy a curiosity

I used a lure to do this last year, times the bitch over a set distance 5 times with adequate rest and took an average of the times. Then used that to calculate mph.

But I think she runs faster behind game than on the lure. She just wasn't giving it her all behind the lure.

I'm sure with todays technology it won't be long before a chip can be fixed to the collar and it send the info to a box. Max speed, average speed, distance covered etc.

I for one would be interested and I have no interest in track greyhounds.

You're right. Speed isn't everything. But it does make you feel good when you hear that the military are investigating an unexplained missile type object that has been picked up on their radar when travelling overhead.

Long as the dog im working puts in the work and shows me that 100% work in the field , and puts all in to try get that kill im not botherd about clocking there speed. Do what gaz said take ya dog to a track and do what ever they do to clock there speed chasing the lure.
