Bosun11 537
im not really up to speed on names,or what a pure whippet, and exactly what make up means pocket rocket ,all i know i booked a pup off powell after losing a lurcher prematurely,i was a bit concerned if id jumped the gun without researching properly.b ut its seen alot of game,i run about 6 farms, pheasant, partridge, duck, and do all the pest control for them.the dog has really been great for me. Mate, JP has bred many things (mostly for sale!) over the years, I'd doubt very much yours would have been sold as a pocket rocket. He had some ok bull crosses on at one time, I did hear or read about in old issues of EDRD, so at around 25", most likely yours is off one of those. Sounds like a good 'un.. Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
I have never done this name thing tumbler/ pocket rocket etc but the lad sounds honest and has no need to lie if some folk concerned themselves more with there own yard and trying to improve it instead of trying to bring others down then maybe they wouldn't need to find fault all the time Don't think anyone has called the lad a liar. Just saying it's unlikely to be just whippet and bull. Especially if it's from mike brown stuff. I saw a pocket rocket work last season. 21" bitch and she was very impressive for her size. Tallywacker 262
you boys sound like youve seen some shite,i got one hear nearly 3 yrs old,i can honestly say ive been impressed with mine,im out 3 to 4 nights a week, its seen some work ,works along side rifles, shotgun, and others stuff.not bad for a ferreting dog really.mines 25 inch tts aprox.id like to put this over a bullxgrey and take a pup.your saying you'v got a genuine bull/whip which is 25"?? Know way on this earth!! come and measure it mate if it worries you that much, its genuine pocket rocket also.booked the pup months in advance .i wont bullshit if a dogs shit i will be the first to say ,i had a collie/bull/grey before this and it was total useless.the prob is the bull whip from powell are sold as ferreting dogs.my circumtances have changed and thhe dog needed to step up the task and i can honestly say hes done me proud.ive had a few probs with his feet but other than that hes doing wellain't running the dog down in anyway! Nor I'm i questioning the dogs ability! There's know way he's a genuine bull/whip be it 1/2or 3/4 bred! Jp's had your pants down with the breeding simple! Quote Link to post
lady hunter 162
i don't think jp's had his pants down, what qb has will piss allover a genuine bullxwhippet.i have a genuine firstx and it would not be able to match qb's 25inch dog at anything.atb with your dog qb Edited April 19, 2014 by lady hunter Quote Link to post
Qbgrey 4,091
could be lads, dogs out of gem to mike browns whippet, seen both sire n bitch.see all the litter, and no were 2 other siblings went, they made around 22,it must have been that victorian stretching machine i put him on.i had a half cross bull/grey before this and it went 40kgs,it was a good dog,but suffered stamina,a good course on a re un and i needed to end the night.he got bad epilepsy and i pts at 3 yr old.thats what got me thinking about a lighter, smaller type that would almost do the same job,i was moving away from larger quarry aswell at that time, wewere ferreting much more than lamping.so saw an ad for bullwhips.this dogs proved itself for me and as i only keep one dog i may ,poss, might take a pup in a couple yrs time, finding a good bitch will be the next hurdle.saluki, bull, grey poss.anyway anyones welcome see the dog, magwitch has seen it,and alot of traveller mates who run lurchers, several people who run large pheasant shoots.what i find and it could be me as i feed it right up,it carrys a bit of weight, but cutting food down looks great.speeds not so important for what i use him for so not worried.all the best gentlemen 1 Quote Link to post
