Fat Dogs And Keeping It Shut . Lol

Recommended Posts

I tell you this though ray,,,,I got a border terrier only 18 month old,,,,my first terrier,,,,and I'm fecked if I still can't get it's feeding right,,,it's still a bit fat if I'm honest,,,,but I look at the food I put out for it,,,and it looks like nothing,,,

So used to putting a big pan full down for running dogs,,,

When my son lived at home I fed him barf and he always seemed heavy. Our vet said raw can put too much weight on a dog and since he left home and began feeding it tinned stuff the dogs much slimmer, so maybe the vet was right with certain types of dog?

Its all down to feeding correct amount for size/weight of dog. . . most give too much Barf when they start because there used to giving larger amounts of the complete or whatever it is there feeding.

Your lads dog is probably thinner because its eating crappy food and most of it is going straight through it. . . Tell your Vet to go do some homework.

fat dogs, extendable leads, and more dog sh** on the pavements all starts when the weather gets better, they call them self's loving pet owners, 75% can't even bring their kids up right so what chance have they got in looking after a dog.

your prob giving the border terrier the right amount, I had one a male prob bit to big for most earth work, but great at drawing or rats. The old keeper by me give him to me , as his old border bitch wouldn't take to it as a pup ,Billy was his name and what a fooker he was he was great with people+kids and female dogs, but a twat for fighting other males .Ihad him in my kennel with my old lurcherxlurcher bred bitch, he loved her lol, ive seen him go up to a gsd as big Buck before now and try fight them ., and I thought only pats or jacks were nutters  . regards food Tomo if it dry prob just a small cup of meal, same with raw meat only little bit, but I bet whats happening there your mrs or kids are prob giving it tit bits or left over's from your meals  .My wife the same with feckin Bryn when he in the house, when I take Buck out lamping , she gives him biscuits and few plan walkers crisps , because the twat stands at cupboard waiting for her to get them out, feckin collie brains lol, Buck feckin thick he don't even no where his own food bowl is 1/2 the time  .

Terriers need next to nothing in the form of barf ... My cocker only gets just under 200g a day and sometimes through the year I have to reduce that to keep the weight off her .......

Tinned food is at least 80% water, and the food there is contains rubbish. Once again, a vet who knows nothing about nutrition :censored:

With this bit of warm weather, you prob noticed you seeing more dogs walkers out, than morm , well I am. I ve been seeing this woman+bloke out with cocker spaniel , its only young about 8 months old very nice friendly pup, but I think over weight got no waist to it, its not puppy fat you can tell well ithink you can. in friendly chat I said it was bit to heavy and it wont help the pup with its health latter on , I told he my sister had cockers before and they can put weight on easy, and her vet told her to keep it light as possible , the bloke said bit sharp lol, he a pet not like your working dogs, and we are happy with him the way he is.!! and your dogs look bit thin to me. I said a healthy dog shows bit of rib, and both my 2 do, and Buck deff does show bit of rib now as just finished working him, prob put couple lb on him in the summer but not lot more,i like to keep my dogs fairly fit all year if I can . Well said ok mate your dog do what you want, if you want to knock years of its like that's up to you. then I just walked off. maybe I shouldnt have said nout in the 1st place,? and kept it shut

I have got a 2 year old lurcher who shows a bit of rib. The vet told me he was at his best weight and to not even think of fattening him up.

No more than 2 days later I get some idiot shouting "Feed that dog" from the safety of his car. He didn't have the energy to drag his fat arse over to me to discuss the matter.

I am new to ownin a lurcher but trust my lurcher freindly vet to people who can barely see their own feet becaysee of their bellies blocking the view.
