Beast; Cheers, mate. That guys heart's in the right place ;)

Mark; It's all set, mate! Pink thing's sat atop a nice little dome of concrete. Belying what's going on underneath it all.

I just have to attach the chain now ~ that's all made up and laying in my kitchen. I just haven't bothered yet, because the weather's so poxy, right now, I wouldn't chain them out other than for their feeds.

We must, surely, get some half decent weather presently? Then I'll get them out in it and shall show Pesticle's full rig ;)

Couple of people have seen the pink thing now. Both extremely impressed with it!

Thanks again! :good: Brilliant piece of kit!

How we've done it, Mark; My mate slipped it onto a bar, about a yard long and with two cross bars welded onto the lower part of that.

Then, with just the top of the bar protruding through the hole in the pink thing, he slipped a couple of washers on and drilled through the bar, above them. Then popped a wire pin through that.

I then stuck the bar into a hole I'd dug. Putting it down between two huge, naturally buried rocks. Then, I slung a barrow load of concrete in there and tamped it well down.

That was about a week ago.

Now, I have about eight foot of fully rigged, medium weight chain to clip and link to the pink thing. (I'll show all this, when I show the pictures)

Result is that Pesticle will be able to run around as she sees fit. The chain has nothing to wrap to.

All her exertions ~ if she makes any. I find her generally happy and placid on her food chain ~ will be met by the pink thing and a tiny stub end of a 17mm steel bar.

So, her options, for escape are 1/ Snap a 17mm bar. 2/ Break the pink thing. 3/ Dig up a barrow load of solid, rock laden concrete and run away with it. 4/ Snap a fair old chain.

Or, 5/ Launch herself skyward to a height in excess of eight foot. And, when she gets there, sustain enough upward velocity to tear the pink thing off the bar.

I think we'll all be very relaxed, this coming summer! :D

Here she is! :D

Ye can just see the pink thing, above the tip of her tail. I know it's not the best shot of the steel itself. But, we've seen that clearly already and seeing it on a dome of concrete would hardly make papers sell

Point is; I've had her out there, on that, with my Rosie Horse contentedly munching grass, just yards away behind an easily Pesticle jumpable fence. (Pesticle has a burning need for Rosie. It wouldn't end well!) And I've been completely relaxed about it. Knowing there's no way on gods earth that rig's gonna let me down :good:

Oh! Just popped back to say; If anyone wants a blow by blow look at the entire rig? Just say and I'll get the photo's ;)

Want to buy a 200 yard reel of twisted steel trace, Lee? Seriously. I have it here. Hatched all sorts of plans to allow a Dog a great dashing up and down run.

Trouble is, it tends to wind up needing telegraph pole thick structures sunk deep into the earth, to support said High Wire and bare the Dog hitting the end of it.

Truth is; I've had Lots of Dogs on chains, for years now. Ironed out the little niggles. It's just that I'm out of anchoring points / space and will need to fix into open space, rather than a wall.

I know some of the US guys chain their Dogs on a circle of concrete. Chain fixed in the centre. Gives the Dog maximum room. Simplicity itself ~ on the face of it. Just wondering how they do it :hmm:

haven't read thru the whole post, so someone may have already said what i'm about to...car axle hammered into ground thru heavy ring, attach swivel to ring then chain to swivel, then another swivel on the collar end....MUST HAVE 2 SWIVELS! Better safe than sorry... ;)

The photo of the dog on the grass is the finished product no car axle for her to hurt her self on ! Just one little pinky anchors in the ground and she can run round and round as fast as she likes with no snags also pink is a girls best friend lol
