Eating Alfresco

I'm not to sure on which section to post this in but I thought I'd share this afternoons experiment with you all.

 

We've had the old wood burner lying about all winter and with this dry spell I've been sorted the garden and the next job on the list was to sort the old burner. Being to tight to give to the scrap man I decided to up cycle as they say. I was in to minds weather to turn into a novel planter or something more practical.....................

I used oak blocks in the fire and I was surprised at how much it flavored the sausages..............

 

Anyone Else taking advantage of this nice weather ?

Have you noticed how times have changed

 

It wasn't that long ago we used to eat in the house and shite outside

 

Now we are shiteing inside and eating outside

 

Who came up with that idea

 

 

It's the future........... :D

 

 

 

I used to do it all the time as a kid, take a few sausages out of the fridge go for a long walk and light a fire in the woods and cook them on the embers......

 

My mother would go mad when I got home stinking of smoke and as black as the road.............................good job I had a brother to blame it on :D

Been lovely and hot this afternoon.

I used take a hexi cooker in the woods when I was a kid .

 

A taste of summer hopefully

We couldn't afford one :cray: ................... :laugh::laugh:

 

I liked the whole building the fire bit and making the a frame to cook the sausage, way before that Ray Mears guy.

 

Now how about a spud done in a fire ....................bets a micro wave hands down :yes:

Dutch ovens. I use. Raw. And a fire pit Its the romany gene lol

 

I just Googled them :icon_redface: .....................I've seen old pics of family's sat around the fire all staring at the contents
