TV licence

Recommended Posts

I hardly ever watch Tv and was wondering what the implications were of not buying a licence . The "detector" van can come round whenever it wants and it wont find my TV on watching a channel. If, say my aerial is unplugged all the time and the TV is not tuned in, could they still take me to court? :hmm: JD

Don't you still have to have a TV license even if you only use the TV to watch DVD's and if you get rid of the telly altogether, I think you still have to buy a license for the radio, the tossers have got it stitched up, you could register as a blind person, I believe they get a 20% discount, unbelievable. All the other channels pay by advertising, BBC say they don't, but they do nowt but advertise their own programmes, I can't believe that SKY or whoever don't do a package with BBC blocked, that way no one would have to pay for a license. I don't watch the telly much either, but when I do it'll mostly be a Sky channel.

i think they ave to catch you watching it & its usualy a knock on the door rather than adetecter van &they can do you for watching stuff not prerecorded & recorded off the tv. DL

sure ive read somewere that you cant have any signal receiving devices or something like that. supose they think its easy enough to just unplug it if anyone comes round and checks. best check with them though saves any fines for mis-interpretation then

We have not had a tv for fifteen years, we live out in the sticks and they send us threatening letters about every six months, my stock answer is even under this gouvernment it is not compulsory to own a telly, they then say they will send someone around to look around our home to satisfy themselves that we dont have one, my reply is he can fack off, they reply he will come back with two police officers and a search warrant, i say bring it on, they arent coming in either and the press will be waiting to record this harrasment and infringment of our civil liberties.

Six months later we do it all over again. :boxing:8):gunsmilie:

Your laptop or pc would be considered a television as far as that bunch of gobs***es are concerned. We pay our licence by direct debit on a quarterly basis, for this the c***s charge you an extra £12 for the privelege. :censored: My brother doesn't have a licence and never has, when they knock his door he just says "i dont have a tv bye" if they push there luck, they get told in no uncertain terms to "f**k right off now" :boxing: Might try that technique meself.Another thing is buying tv's,dvd players, videos etc,the shop will forward your details to the licencing authority. :censored:
