CN dog casper done fox , hes foxy x deacon and wolf does fox too , hes casper x ruthie(hippys bitch)

a couple years ago CN put casper over a pointer as an experiment , wonder if anyone on this site has one or knows of one and how they doing

I thought CN's dogs had terrier blood in thier ancestry, if so this would probably explain thier penchent for vulpine. I think genuine saluki/greyhounds used week in week out for foxing would soon sicken. I do believe you would get a few that would stick to the job. But out on the lamp seeing 2-4 or more a night, would become to much. This is my humble opinion but the lads with salukis who say they are capable of slaying fox, are they out doing it or are they just seeing the odd one out on the fens. cheers wex

mush do your dogs do foxs pre ban ovcourse

before the ban I wouldnt run them with these dogs on purpose as i lost a days running once after a saluki cross got bite and it leg looked like a foot-ball minutes latter, after traveling for hours for a day coursing. but pre ban if they came on one the old dog wouldn't but the younger one would but then i never reared the older one.

there aren't many dogs that will do them with the love a well bred bull cross has for doing them, to that i would agree but bred right saluki crosses will do them as will many other crosses that are bred right.

I agree mush, that many crosses will sort foxes out singlehanded. The list is endless, but i think that saluki saturated longdogs are best equipped for hare. I aint kennel blind and i have seen some decent saluki x's tackle fox. But when the chips are down and thier muzzles were swelled, they prefered the bum not the head. Some of the gamest dogs i have seen run contained 0% bull blood, so for fox they aint the be all and end all. cheers wex

In quite a few of the country's salukis come from they are bred for harder stuff ( that fights back)other than hare. Its all in the breeding and the lines, most salukis over here are bred from show type salukis, its a bit like breeding of a show staff and saying most of the pups arent any good.

Mush excuse me I did not realize this was a quiz, tell me why I should know the breeding of those dogs and how that reflects on my experience of running dogs?

I dont expect you to know the breeding but with all your experience of salukis and their crosses i would expect you to tell me what breed they are. Maybe if they were running up and down a show ring or had feathered ears and tails you would know. Well for them with not much experience of salukis their pure bred salukis.
