J Darcy 5,871
Here is a quote out of the book Extreme Lurcher Work by J Darcy "I have owned a good number of saluki/greyhounds and not one has ever taken a fox, I reckon these type of lurchers just dont like the pain often involved with catching fox's." Strangley the last 2 i have owed both took fox single handed day and night....this was, of course, since the book was written. What i will say, and i do speak from owning such dogs, is that (if they are going to do it) i feel they wed to fox if allowed to mature for a good while. I don't feel running them on fox in their first season does them any favours. Pre-ban ..... both dogs started on fox in their 3rd season.....prior to this they wouldnt touch foxes...... These were both saluki/grey (1st cross) put to a greyhound X saluki/greyhound lurcher. A dash of lurcher in them for sure, about 4 or 5 gens back, and that was a sal/grey mix too i am told, so only a dash..... good hunting....JD Quote Link to post

Guest shaheen
Right i might sound a knob but...is their much difference between KC and working lines? Quote Link to post
kreet 0
i personaly think if you bring the dog up properly it will do as you as and why have a bull x for foxe's if you can have a saluki x that takes all ? surely why have 2 dogs to do a job that one of the 2 is more than able to do ? im not saying saluki x's will be better than bull x's on a fox but the will be on everything else and if it takes a fox when need be what more can you ask for ? doesnt need to have a shovel on its shoulders to be a decent fox dog .
