socks 32,253 Posted April 8, 2014 Report Share Posted April 8, 2014 I got a phone call off my eldest girl yesterday who was as excited as a kid at Christmas telling me she had been offered a job in Japan as soon as she graduates from university in June ... Now on one hand I am immensely proud of her and I am really happy for her that her hard work and dedicatation has led her to what she wants to do in life and I would never say or do anything to jeaperdise that .... My eldest is 35 and you still get the same feelings as when they were kids, but you can't live their lives for them. Think back to when you signed up, I bet your parents felt worse than you do now. So a six figure salary in years to come then......... She's done very well for herself, I was painting sheds for a farmer, building pheasant pens for the keeper and labouring for a mates building firm after I graduated. The world really is her oyster. So initially it's only a 3 year thing, is all this setting her up to move to the East permanently or does she plan to use the experience for a career in the West? I'd imagine with her cultural and business experience of the East, she would be hugely valuable to a Western company that deals largely with Asian companies! 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Her end goal is to work for a major eastern company with business in the west or vice versa ... At the moment she wants to live in Japan but hopefully in a few years she will be happy to move home ... whichever she chooses I will fully support her ......... 12 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
gnasher16 30,025 Posted April 8, 2014 Report Share Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) Thats great news.....have faith in the upbringing you gave her mate shes obviously got the brains of her mother ... combined with the survival skills of her father she should do just fine .....as has been said with todays communications Japan is not as far away as it used to be,it might just as well be Scotland you still wouldnt be able to just trot along and protect her.................but i can understand your apprehension. The one 8,463 Posted April 8, 2014 Report Share Posted April 8, 2014 Mine was the same had a offer to start teaching english to kids in South korea starting august looked for a job to fill in the time till them and got offered three managers jobs , had a think about it and settled on one full time money talks and she can still go travelling on her holidays . She was 21 and had seen three corners of the world wants to work a year travel a year and see the rest of the world but no while it wont hold her back it will slow her down a bit as shes always on your mind while shes travelling , Quote Link to post Share on other sites
