Pups, Credentials?

Seeing Jim's topic got me thinking and not wanting to ruin his I thought I'd make one.

 

So what are you credentials for a pup?

 

Personally only ever had one pup And that was from parents That I worked for 5 seasons Before we bred them having worked them on All quarry.

 

What does everyone else have to see before they get a pup?

For all the hunting and type of hunting I do any old mutt would suffice , Aslong as the dam and pups are well cared for and the parents look like they could put a shift in that will do me

Never seen any of my dogs sires or dams work and im over the moon with them its what you do with them they wrre of good lines and i took the owners word for it. Tell you what i wouldnt do is slag someone who bred of a dog with 3 legs

Yes shit dogs sometimes through good offspring, but very rarely.

 

If you are after decent stuff, you stack the odds in your favour, and the best way of doing this is by getting pups from parents that have stood the test of time.

Any pup is a gamble no matter how it's bred but if it fails................... then you only have yourself to blame not the dog or breeding.

Lad bred from a tried and tested dog that lost a leg whilst at work,he covered a bitch that is also well proven,those are the sort of mutts id source a pup from,if they covered my hunting lifestyle.Some of the best bred jukels about are bred from dogs that are no longer fully able,often because of working injury.

Nearly all the dogs I have ever had,,,I've not seen the parants work,,,there's only been 2 where I've seen the parents work....although most have been on reputation that I have herd about,,,,

 

Even this pup I have now,,,,i hadn't even seen the dam ,,never mind her work,,,so this pup is a real gamble,,,
