Giro 2,648
I aint seen Marks dogs Aaron mate ... Plenty have he even used to put Vids, on the Lurcher long dog forum.. His mate (Nick Otty hedgemuper) took a few right good right scores.. Dogs still trotted 17 mile or something aswell as the rabbits.. I might not be remembering right though. I dont think you get get big numbers up here driving the land.. (rabbits) Roading siding you get get any amount of venison or hares When i had my jeep years back, daytime I was getting blocked in fields off irate keepers and i had permission lol.. I think lamping the land in a 4x4 would be more on top... I would rather park up some where safe, walk a mile or two to get on some good ground. If come on top knock the light off and slip away in the darkness.. Edited April 11, 2014 by Giro Quote Link to post

bullmastiff 615
Trouble is when most people talk about lamping from a 4x4 they picture a Subaru screaming across a stubble field and having 1/2 crosses thrown out the windows at quarry which will be left behind after the 'Chase' If your doing this I don't see why you wouldn't just run the bloody thing over! A 4x4 is just a means to cover more ground than you can when on foot, it doesn't mean you need to scream around the field chasing the quarry. I believe the majority of folk (as I sometimes do), mooch on at 10-15mph around the fields headland whilst lamping the field, spotting the quarry, stopping and slipping the dog. Dog and Rabbit back in the motor, off you go again. By the time your on to the next Rabbit the dog probably won't of even got it's tongue back in it's head, so saying the dog won't be as fit is a rubbish. The 4x4 is just a tool. If used properly it can be very effective for pest control. 7 Quote Link to post

DogFox123 1,379
Can remember getting my nose smashed by a bull cross when I was younger in the back on door opening duties haha. When the beam was on a fox the dogs went crazy and were uncontrollable. 1 Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Is it really such a big deal using a motor these days..???? To me it's just another way of lamping, its the norm now for some, just how they do it.... Half of you sound like the sad old boys back in the day, who thought the coming of lamps was wrong, from the 'traditional' uses of running dogs.. Or the arrival of the Saluki and Bull crosses... Get over it... Your never gonna change them that have, or do use motors.... It's never gonna go because it gets results.... End of....!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to post

Exactly lamping especially in a 4x4 is not about giving the quarry a sporting chance, it's all about the catching. Quote Link to post
