Help For Our Troops. Please Read !

Recommended Posts

OK lads and lasses.
If you would like to help our troops abroad by sending interesting literature,
Magazines, recent newspapers, even women's magazines, such as 'Take a Break', 'Chat' etc, I know that they would also be welcomed.
Before these things hit the recycle bin think about this option please.
I can not tell you what to send but remember !
There is male and female soldiers out there who will read stuff you send them so not loads of porn mags.....everyday reading and current news / gossip will be great.
You know the crack....you read it yourself.
THE ADDRESS I GIVE YOU MUST NOT OR EVER BE POSTED PUBLIC ON FACEBOOK OR ANYWHERE ELSE AS THIS IS GOING TO A WAR ZONE.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PISS AND POST THE ADDRESS TO FOOLS OR MAKE A JOKE OF THIS.
The package will be sent free, as long as it weighs 2kg or less
You just take the package to the post office and when they see the address, it will be sent free of charge.
You can send as many packages as you want but note the weight limit.
The package needs to be sealed around the edges with parcel tape, as packages get a hiding during transit.
You will have to PM me for the address as ONCE AGAIN
THIS CAN NOT BECOME PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE....as you can understand why.
Do not include details that are too personal but a email address is MAYBE OK….?
Please do not let foolish people get hold of this that will make fun of this info or allow it to get into the wrong hands if you know what I mean.
I hope this is been read by trusting sensible people.
Thanks Steve

Thanks for the address,I have dozens of books will sort some out this weekend and post on monday.

No problem thanks.

I have nothing to do with the running of this.

I came across it on another forum and someone kindly sent me the address as well.

I just thought this was one of the better ideas I have came across so I would like to spread the word and do my little bit.

I went to the post office today and sent a pack they said to mail it free it is supposed to be for a family member.

BUT after thinking what the cause was for they accepted it as free to post.

You do have to place a custom sticker on the package as well.

This is a splendid idea and worth the effort to send the lads and lasses some goodies they can not normally put their hands on over where they are based.

Thanks Steve

Send nothing the place is overflowing with good intentions

Will they not get distributed to other places that is maybe in need ?

I am asking as I do not know.

HONESTLY like I said.....

Is this a bad thing to send stuff to our troops ?

Please tell me more, I thought I was doing a good thing really.

Thanks

No offence to anyone and supporting troops is a good nice thing for civilians to Do

In the past I have had letters from scouse businesses, Wycombe sowing circles and London primary schools, all have been replied to, and gratefully received

But the truth is the majority of things end up on the evening bonfire, if you have a family friend or a relative there, please write email or send a parcel of their favourite sweets etc, but the sheer volume of tat and wooly socks from well wishers truly has to be seen to be believed

Support them in other ways, stick a fiver into blesma or the usual suspects, it will be more gratefully received

Aye, BLESMA is a good cause.

The logistics train is under enormous strain. I had a friend who was blown up and had a leg broken delivering a WMIK full of 'To A Soldier' letter to an out post. That space would have been much better put to use transporting mission essential stores.

I know my intentions were in the right place but all of a sudden I feel disheartened.
I really wanted to make the difference to at least 1 person but by the sounds of it I am wasting my time,
and the time of royal mail posting it.
Never mind !

I want to purchase a pair of boots for the colder weather, I do a lot of walking, and some trekking about the hillsides and trails. I do not want "winter boots" but rather boots that would be suitable for a cold day, but would work with layers of socks rather than thick heavy boots. Several people have told me Meindl is an excellent brand, and that is great, but what kind ? Hiking ? Walking ? Do they make them that they would serve the purpose mentioned above ? Any specifics to look for in a boot for this purpose ?
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn

Sorry gentlemen to bother you, but I have come to my wits end. My neighbour across the way lets her dog roam as it please when it comes to shitting and urination, she is too lazy to actually take the dog out herself. He seems to have taken to my property and a certain area just under my bedroom window. I do not want to hurt the dog for the sake of her ignorance, but I do very much need to stop him from doing it any longer. The grass and  the shrubs are dying and turning brown and the flowers are just rank with smell that floats up through my bedroom window.
He is a VERY OVERWEIGHT beagle and leaves behind some damn good deposits.
I am wondering short of doing something stupid, what can I do to deter the dog from that area or any patches of garden I have? I plan to go to the council about the problem, and lay some of it on the town manager who is an acquaintance of mine, but in the meantime, any tricks out there to make my flowers and bushes unsavoury.
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn
