Incidentally.......if Martin Bowers or his brothers get their boats in on it........they are innocent of anything they are accused of doing :laugh: .............I know old man Mickey May gets some good words said about him......and rightly so.....i hate the word " legend "......but at West Ham Boys Club he is certainly that......as was Jimmy Murphy god rest his soul.

gnasher I don't have sky what would you say is the reason why the east end produces as many pros has it does is it because of it deprived areas or has boxing always been a big thing down there

 

Just tradition really mate its a piss poor area where there was never nothing to do except fight,thieve or kick a ball.......... naturally when young lads see there elders being succesful at it they strive that little bit harder to rise above the shit of their surroundings.........it was always a harsh area where nobody wanted to back down and with that competetive nature it tended to produce some good fighters........i suppose fighting is just accepted and necessary in some areas......our father was a fighter so me and my brother did it was just a natural progression........think a lot of East End families were the same.

cheers for that nash I just wondered why the area produced what it does the club my lad goes to has reduced juvenile crime by 70 per cent and with a lot of marketing it seems to be getting more popular in the area and with lottery grants and I think ricky hatton and carl ince have put money in as well it seems to be growing but boxing not been a big thing round me it was always football

Hot Meat would you let me know how the little fella gets on, my little son is same age, reckon on trying to get him into a discipline slowly.
