Ive got this jrt pup , and his left ear is now standing up , he is 11 going on 12 weeks old. Ive had him since 6 weeks old, this whole time his ears have been uniformly folded over. Now will this go away, i mean fold back over? with this ear standing straight up he's going to get alot more chit in his ear and if i can get it to fold back over id like to do that. Ive been told it has to do with teething? And ive also heard that reducing protein in his diet canhelp lay that ear back down? Does any of this make sense? any help appreciated. :signthankspin:

AAAAAh! :no::no::no::no:

Puppies need protein to grow! Is this a show dog? Does it really matter if it does? Do foxes get crap in their ears cos they stand up? They go to ground too you know.

The ear is only likely to stand up if the pup's ancestors' ears stand up. And like has already been said: pups ears are all over the place until they have their second teeth through.

be easy fellas, be easy, This is my first pup, and as I mentioned in the first post, I thought that with the ear standing up we might run into a better chance of having some chit getting in there. Nothing to do with appearance at all. maybe my skins a lil thin tonite, I'm not sure. Makes sense about the foxs ear though doesnt it? I'm never going to be the one to apologize being the new guy in the room, we've all had to be that guy at some point or another. Its like we tell the new hires at the railroad, there is no such thing as a dumb question. Thanks again to all

:icon_redface: At least I didn't call you a *******! LOL :D Stick a pic up of the little fella so we can admire his ears LOL And by the way, one of my terriers wears her ears inside out half the time: I call them her 'go faster' ears: less wind resistance if you see what I mean. :laugh: Yes they do get some dirt in them to ground, but they all get dirt in their ears digging holes in the yard and rolling about on the ground playing: they also spend time cleaning eachothers' ears too.

Best of luck with your pup.
