MickHowes 9
My plans are, went shooting last night with the hw100kt and only got 1 opportunity at a woody , smacked it clean in the head and when I went to pick it up it flew off, hit the fence then flew off again and I couldn't find it after that it was horrible there was blood pissing out of its head so god only knows how horribly it suffered! made me feel sick and I packed the rifle up and headed home . not impressed at all. but im going out at the weekend with my hw97k .22 to get ready and zeroed in for the hft next weekend . don't know if il be shooting anything live for a while that pigeon last night really made me feel bad. suppose it happens every now and again but it wasn't nice Guess you're not 1 shot skot then:P i 1 Quote Link to post

RemyBolt 420
Hi Daz. Welcome to the forum mate. You'll get used to my usual weekend response....I'm off ratting! All nighter today/tonight, at a friend's chicken farm. He's bringing his little lad along to pop some rodants. The kid is learning the difference between aiming on a PS3 and in real life. It'll be a good evening. Might try and get a rabbit or 2 for the pot, for Saturday morning, when I head back home. Quote Link to post

That's why it's good to always keep a shot ready. Humane dispatch style. I hit a rat the other day and it moved as I pulled the trigger. Bust through the back end of it. The dog was sent after it and dispatched it for me really quickly. But it really can't be helped. Just make sure you ALWAYS have a shot ready, incase you get caught out again. Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
it fell and then it was still so I thought job was done. walked over and it wasn't laid down but kind of slumped upright on its feet breathing heavy and there was blood allover its head and neck. think I must have hit it in the eye! then as I went to put the gun to its head as it was 2 yards from me it flew into the fence and then hit the floor and a few feathers came out of it and then it flew again! super pigeon!! just hope a fox found it quickly ... or it gave up its struggle without too much suffering Quote Link to post

gurtwurz 792
Think I'm gonna go up the range with a newbie mate on Sunday morning and go with the next part of his shooting training, then I'm off on the squizzers up the farm on Monday. Only saw one last week over 350 acres, so looks like we've nearly cleared em out again over winter. Or they've all drowned... Quote Link to post

Elliott 436
Welcome here Daz I shall be heading to two lovely permissions I have here in beautiful Lincolnshire with my Weihrauch HW80 .22 spring rifle and giving the Rabbits a thinning. And a Feral and Woodpigeon clearance job in the barns for my Daystate Regal .177 to cut its teeth on! Simon How are you finding the Regal ,had any problems yet ? To be honest nothing I'd call serious Villaman. But, there are a few more points against it, than for it. After a lifetime of springer shooting, the Huntsman Regal feels or seems a bit flimsy in construction and not all that powerful. Maybe that's because it is totally recoiless and gives nothing away when you shoot with it. It doesn't seem to have the punch that a 12ft/lb rifle should have, so, I need to get it Chroned to find out for sure. The barrel rattles inside the supporting ring (or something!) when you shake the rifle. The bolt is a bit stiff to cycle and I found my hand starting to blister during a long day's practice with it. I also had a few indexing problems with the 10-shot rotary magazine but, frequent use seems to have cured those for now. Accuracy? Well, it's not bad at all but, my 3 Weihrauch HW80, 77 and 97K and TX200HC springers can all at least equal it and my HW97K is way more accurate and consistent. I have beaten off a few PCP shooters in comps here with my 97K .177 and it is an incredible rifle. And my HW77 .22 is just as accurate! The Regal has done nothing to change my view that the oft-held belief by many people, that a PCP is more accurate than a Weihrauch springer is honestly and truly, complete bollocks. I will never buy another one of these PCP things EVER. In its favour the Regal is stunningly beautiful to handle and look at. It is cleanly accurate with AA Fields 4.51mm size and, so far I have managed to bag a few rabbits and the odd pigeon at 30-35 metres with it. So, it's an adequate if not so-stunning hunter. But for sheer long-range knock-down power and accuracy on a rabbit hunt, my spring rifles knock spots off it. How 'bout yours Villaman? Any better now? Best wishes mate. Simon What a shame Simon! I'm sure if you had opted for the HW100 your opinion would have been much different. In my opinion it's the best PCP out there and can't be bettered - such a slick, well engineered piece of kit. Typical Wehirauch quality! 1 Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
i reckon andy was right when you got it simon, youre just gonna get more bored with it as time goes on. im having the same problem with my falcon, its very accurate but seems underpowered cos of the recoilless action and is, quite frankly, shite boring to shoot... yet as soon as the pro sport or 77 come out im happy as larry, just from the sheer pleasure of shooting a springer. flog it!! and buy an expensive scope for your favourite springer with the money... (im only saying that cos i splashed out on a vortex viper ffp and its the dogs dangleys lol) 1 Quote Link to post
