Hey

Been a while since i've posted on here, but with spring in full swing and all the signs of life in the fields getting back to normal after all the flooding we had this year, i'm itching to get out again.

One of my main permissions has got Rape seed growing at the moment and its that 3 1/2 tall just starting to go yellow stage. It's been getting hammered by pigeons big time.

As the field is bordered by good sitty trees on most sides there is ample oppurtunity to set up good hides and snipe into the tree tops.

The question is, have any of you guys used lofted decoys in the trees before. I've decoyed on the ground before with ok success but never bothered with lofted pigeon decoys.

I'm thinking while the trees are still reasonably bare, this might be a good time to try.

What do you guys think?

I've had alot of fun using this method, What I do is find a well eaten patch, then make a hide preferably to the left hand side of the nearest tree. The reason for this is as a right handed shooter, it's easier to swing your gun from the waist to the left than to the right. As my gun is zeroed to about 30yards, I would stand under the farthest limbs of the tree then walk back to the right 30 steps and make a hide. That way any birds that land should be in range. I put up to 5 decoys in the tree depending on how big the tree is. Dont over crowd the tree.I also put 2 or 3 decoys on the ground. Have fun!!

As said give it a go and report back as what works for somebody might no work for you but give it a go and look to adapt your shooting i reckon you will get some but dont think you will make a big bag
