The one 8,479
Up to two weeks mate check the back of her neck for markings to see if hes had a grip and done the deed Quote Link to post
Nathan1991 25
Thanks mate, I'm just worried she might die if she doesn't get caught Quote Link to post
vanman1 411
Thanks mate, I'm just worried she might die if she doesn't get caught She will NOT die its an old wives tale However you will need 100% hutch hygine. The reason ferrets become unwell when not mated is the fact they are dragging an open weeping fanny through piss and shit etc in the huth/run hence they get infections!Likes been said already check her neck for wetness /marks etc and can take upto 2 weeks for swelling to come down.Good luck. 5 Quote Link to post

joe14 98
If you dont know the basics why are you even considering breeding. She either needs a jill jab, vasectomised hob or to be spayed.. Quote Link to post
Nathan1991 25
Hi joe14, Breeding them wasn't always on the cards but I was lead to believe that if she didn't engage in intercourse she could develop life threatening issues. But to be honest my original question didn't really invite patronising responses, if my post irritates you I would probably suggest taking a stand on you moral highhorse in response to another issue that someone is trying to resolve. To the rest of you thanks for your advice it has been greatly appreciated ATB Nathan 4 Quote Link to post

Thing is Toolbox. Joe raised a valid point. I cant think of another domesticated animal so flippantly bred in this country. It`s almost natural progression for some folk get a ferret, get two, breed them,(cos they think its the only option) then they`re in the classifieds 2 month later advertised as "whole ferret set up, 2 ferrets, 10 nets and a 3ft woodchip hutch, excellent workers" Yeah right.... Some people still see them as disposable or merely pound notes. Quote Link to post
toolebox 1,546
Offen its not so much the message as the tone its delieved in that counts ,you can always get youre message across without being rude or upsetting anyone and after all no one knows Nathans intentions on this litter ,Joe never bothered to ask ,he could have hunting homes lined up or he could have himself caught the life long bug of ferreting ,something we NEVER get sick of ,theres just something about it ,that draws one back day after day .Im leaving in the morning for two long days of payed rabbiting ,most of which will be ferreting using either a lurcher or and the long net ,I cant wait even though I use the ferret once or twice most days . bobcullen79 1,495
I wouldnt have considered it a rude reply to be honest, blunt yes, but not rude. This site is not generally known for its grade A English graduates and sometimes you have to read between the lines and not get offended by what`s written. After all, forums are based on peoples opinions albeit badly strung together ones Enjoy your upcoming days of sport. Bob. 2 Quote Link to post
