Problem Dog Needs Solving

Recommended Posts

Alright lads first moved into temp housing and was told cant have any dogs so culled my Stafford. Was dog aggressive and used to a good life. Rather than ending up spending his life locked in a back garden or in the hands of some chav wanting to stroke their ego I put him down. Too much of a dog for someone who doesn't have experience and love the breed enough so that I wouldn't want another news article.

Anyway we've been housed and can keep dogs. Old couple on my road chat with my mum. She told em I want to go get a dog and she hopes I don't go get a Stafford as shed like a dog she can walk. Old couple had a french bulldog they couldn't cope with given to them by their son. Bloke clearly got her to make money as she's already had a litter before he dumped her there. I've bumped into him aswell just once when he came down. Told me they go for a grand a pup easy, told him got no interest in breeding her. Knew there n then what sort of c**t he was.

Anyway that's just explaining how I've come to own a french bulldog lol. She's a fine dog but she screams like nothing I've seen before. Soon as she sees another dog that's it screams as if your beating her. Would of paired up with someone who's got a dog and just walked her and hoped shed learn to shut up type thing. Trouble is dont know anyone around here with a dog and noone wants to come close when she's screaming. It's bloody embarrassing and I'm sure people think I'm beating her or want her aggressive. It's at the point where I half don't enjoy walking her. Have even brought her to a dog class thinking ill get her around aload of dogs. Was told to shake a coke can with stones when she kicks off. Had no affect shed just jump when you shake it then carry on. Sort of felt that was just going to make her associate dogs with fear. So really anyone got any ideas? Noone will come near me and would be nice to see the girl have a decent life and able to be around other dogs.

Anyway here she is, not such a fat f****r like what I've always seen french bulldogs to be. Don't mind sticking her pic up because you won't be seeing her on no free ads having a litter. Morals come before money with me n dogs.

Cull it, the same as your staffy.     pernod

I reckon it's the lead, buy it a bag with a wee hole for its head to pop out and it'll stop it..

And here's me finaly thinking this guy dare is a bit of a good Cnut....         An then you go and get yaself a frenchie with a bad attitude lol     All your hard earned internet rep has just

Shes very nice looking except for her head.

I have the same problem,I can build him up to the point where he tolerates other dogs and just keeps close eye on them but needs staying on top of or he just reverts.

i wouldnt even mind if she could walk and ignore a dog but she honestly screams worse than any dog ive seen before and ive been around dog aggressive dogs before. Im assuming its a fear aggression? thats why shes making such aload of noise to try make herself seem a threat? just wondering what the f**k to do because its unbelievable when she starts and has everyone looking.

the stafford wasnt culled because it was dog aggressive thatll be like culling a greyhound because it runs. It was culled because id rather my dogs dead than having to worry about how its being treated. This dog wont be getting passed around or f**k all im not that type of person. She would be culled before i gave her away. I would just like to get the issue of the screaming to stop. Thought prehaps someone else has had a screamer or what i believe to be a fear aggressive dog although she doesnt hide back shell pull forward while screaming. Just thought the screaming maybe her trying to make her self seem more of a threat to the other dog.

So what you're saying is a Stafford being dog aggressive is as natural as a Greyhound running?

Have you tried redirecting her attention on walks? Try turning and walking the other way and when she stops screaming praise her for it verbally and give her a high reward treat, I use dehydrated liver. I have had a few dogs that are like this with other dogs they don't know, some dogs it works for others not so much. The ones that it didn't work on I would just walk them in an area that noone else was in.

Yes Corky that would be the right assumption. DA in Staffies is quite natural, just like a Greyhound loves to run.

Good luck! I hope you can figure it out.

Hey, i don't know how you will get on with that dog, maybe calm down now you're giving it time, and associated with streets, and other dogs, but id say your right to put down as genuine dogmen are scares than good dog's, and as for dealers, stay away

Well I find that ridiculous that dog aggression is acceptable just because it is a bull breed. I think theres a fair few Stafford owners who'd disagree with you.

Well Corky you sound a lot like all the rest of the fluffy butt owners. It is part of the breed you just have to accept the fact and learn to deal with it. I have owned APBT's for over 20 years and have only had 2 out of over 20 that we NOT DA. DA is curbable never currable and you can NEVER trust a Bull breed or terrier for that matter NOT to fight. It is called being resposible and not ignoring the breeds history.
