Could have an over active thyroid maybe he is thinking ? 4000kcal a day is alot, unless you do alot of fitness, cardio and a busy job ?

I know you SAY you eat alot , but do you consistently track it ? the phone app - myfitnesspal is good for day to day tracking of food. Once you see regularly how much protein carbs and fats you get you can start adding in more of what you need

Train with someone who knows what theyre doing (or get a personal trainer),you'll need to learn how to do the big lifts with correct form so you dont end up injured.

The best way to put on weight whilst training is,find a fat bird with a well stocked fridge and larder, the sort of blimp that a blind Arab would,nt steal off you,to mount this blimp you will need to drink copious amounts of Beer, which itself is fattening, then stagger homeward, let the blimp feed you, mount it,roll off, fart and go to sleep.Guaranteed to pile on the pounds, ask our lass?.

Well heavy compound lifts in a split routine should do the trick then mate.

Though I only stopped lifting about a year ago due to injury and I know my form wont be great now,so im making sure I only train with experienced people for now.

bad form + heavy weights = injury.

If you incorporate heavy lifting sessions into your routine you should be able to bulk up and still be flexible and not lose any speed ........

true ken, but some people (natural body metabolism ) wont put weight on . I trained karate +weights for 3 years, my natural 12st 7lb 5ft 11 1/2 in went up to 13st 10lb. But could never go any heavier don't matter what eat or weights I lifted , got very strong for my weight benching 255lb curling 60-80lb , well over my own bodyweight . m y mate I trained with was 5ft 7in 11st went up to 14st and very strong lifted 70lb more than me, different N/B/M to me so gained weight a lot more easy  we all different N/B/M

Your training is obviously keeping you really fit but how much time do you have to bulk up, what proportion of time do you want to devote to it. To bulk up use free weights, 3 sets of each exercise, 10 reps on the first set, up the weight for the second set so that you can only do 5-7 reps and up the weight again for the final set so that you can only do 1 rep. Make sure you do wrist strengthening exercises, other wise you will struggle as the weight goes up. I used this once and it was passed on to me by the ex of a body builder and it worked really well but to be honest keeping it up is a pain in the arse and I wanted to go in a different direction, that being a overall fitness in proportion to my body type. I do press ups, leg raises and sit ups to exhaustion, weights to either 15ish or 28ish reps depending on the exercise and yoga for core stability and strength. I just exercise to be better at my hobbies and feel good, its not towards competition, well only against myself :D Good luck
