Blackdog92 2,047
It depends what type of ground your on mate are you hunting near farm buildings, houses, river banks, wooded areas or feilds 1 Quote Link to post
Chad Main 4
One place is woodland and horse fields and other is fields near houses Quote Link to post
day and night walker 235
Chad if you go make sure that you bring a dog that knows what it is doing so the pup can see how it is done, remember she is still young and those rats can give a dog a nasty bite which could put her off for a bit. atb and good luck with her daywalker. krawnden 1,036
I've never owned a saluki so can't say with authority what they're likely to be like at 6 months, but to me that sounds a bit young for entering to rats. If it's a sensitive pup, getting a bloody nose might do more harm than good imo. 1 Quote Link to post
Chad Main 4
Thabks for the info think I'm just gunna lay off a mounth or two leave them mature more Quote Link to post
Blind Hawk 57
Best bet is get a trap ,,catch your rat alive..,let the pups have a good look and sniff around it That should drive them on Once they are showing interest ..,..or getting worked up let the rat out 2 Quote Link to post
Chad Main 4
Need to find were rats are first haha Quote Link to post
day and night walker 235
Live trap sounds best bet but like others have said let the dogs become frantic before you release it. Edited March 30, 2014 by day and night walker Quote Link to post

stabba 10,745
Releasing a rat live out of a trap for dogs is classed as baiting....just letting you know Quote Link to post
francolin 449
stabba correct ,is it ok if dog kills the said rat while its been dispatched, such as if it got out while checking the trap Quote Link to post
